Marketing Referrals - How Much Value Do They Have On WA?

Referral - An act directing someone to a different place or person for information, help or action, often to a person or group with more knowledge
or power.

Referrals are an essential part of any successful enterprise and their value
should NOT be minimized. An effective referral program can prove to be
a major contributor to the success of any business, especially a relatively
new one just starting out. By establishing a active referral program, the
potential for growth is greatly enhanced.

On the flip side, the negative aspects surrounding disgruntled customers
are such that your bottom line can be seriously impacted if the situation
is not handled in a timely manner. The upside, is to take precautions to
ensure this does not occur on a regular basis.

Simple common sense precautions should be utilized to guarantee your
successful business venture is not seriously impacted and the following
steps are necessary, in this regard:

1. Provide timely response to inquiries.

2. Follow up in a timely manner to guarantee customer satisfaction.

3. If not, offer immediate corrective action to customer's satisfaction.

4. Offer a comment box for recommendations on improving services.

5. After reviewing comments/recommendations, follow up with
customer, to discuss results.

6. If customer recommendation is adopted, public acknowledgement
may be appropriate.

7. Also, a discount or gift may be appropriate reward to signify
your appreciation for the customer's involvement.

NOTE: This list could be expanded considerably by listing more examples,
but just remember that positive gestures, as described above, could serve
as an invaluable asset to the success of your business.

Word of mouth advertising resulting in referrals is the most trusted form
of advertising, according to Nielsen. Study shows that people often act
on the advice of family and friends. Therefore, this is a strategic and
most important practice to utilize, which facilitates the continued growth
of your business or services. Testimonials encourage others to check out
these recommendations and help improve revenues when they make the decision to try them out and sign on the dotted line.

Successful brands have a distinct advantage in that their reputation
