So, How Many Articles Do You Need To Make Your First $1 Online?
Like many WA newbies, I was once writing, publishing and hoping to see my first $1 commission made online.
I told myself that many others have been making it with WA and it's only a matter of time without I do.
There were also occasions of self-doubts. "Am I writing the right types of articles?", "Maybe this affiliate marketing stuff isn't the thing for me".
Ok, I've gone through all that. I've got my first site making more than $600 monthly.
How many articles before it did? Easily 100.
Why?
Because I've missed out a crucial lesson taught by Kyle.
At a minimal, you'll want to have 3 normal article + 1 review (with affiliate link).
I have tons of 'how-to' articles without affiliate links. I was too afraid of adding affliate links, of getting punished by Google and whatsover.
I was on the brink of giving up and long story short, I started writing best-of-articles. Lots of them.
My ratio was 2/3 review/(best-of) to 1 info.
Then my earning grows.
I started a 2nd site, for the sake of seeing how many articles I need to start making money.
That site has so far made 2 sales on Amazon. It had only 25 articles and only 4 of them have affiliate links.
Key takeaway
- Write reviews if you're in the MMO niche. Write "Best-of" articles if you're promoting physical products.
- Amazon has a higher conversion rate, so it's good for newbie to start earning.
- Do your keyword research. Low QSR is more important than high traffic.
- Write in-depth articles, and link to authority sites. Don't be too afraid of linking out.
- Read This Training by Dylan if you're in the Amazon niche.
Once you know what you're doing, the second round proves to be easier and more predictable.
So, how many articles you've published before you made your first sale?

Thanks for the breakdown. How many articles do you need to make your first dollar? Great question, I'm not sure, when I made my first commission I had about 40 post but, I haven't made any commission since then.
Plus, the article that I made commissions with was outside of my niche. It was a Personal development article.
I'm in the MMO niche writing reviews almost daily, missed a a couple of days here and there.
I don't have too many affiliate links, because, of the same reason, I don't want to get penalized by Google. This could be it. I don't know. Maybe I need to add more affiliate links, I have no clue.
Right now, I have about 125 post, but, it could be that I need to just keep pushing out articles. Not all 125 are reviews though but, recently, I have been pushing all reviews and nothing but, reviews. So, maybe there will be a change soon.
My traffic is going up so, I know I am doing something right but, sometimes, I get the blogging blues thinking I am doing things wrong. I guess it is self doubt...who knows...but, I know one day, I will convert my readers, it's only a matter of time.
Anyhow, thanks for your insights this has helped me stay the course.
The MMO niche is tough. If you followed Little Mama on WA you'll know that 100 posts are just a start.
I've started another site in the MMO and I have a very realistic expectation on it.
Thank you for sharing much appreciated
You have made valid points.
Dylan is the best when it comes to Best of articles
Here's to making it happen
Have a great weekend
Jennifer
I agree with the Best of articles, they have been an eye-opener to me.
I am so thankful to Dylan for his training.
And review articles, I am just getting to understand the power of them and learned a lot from Grace, Littlemama
