I have a portfolio of around 5 websites projects (mostly wordpress based) and I want to consolidate all of them under birds eye view control panel.

I don't know if i heard you clearer, I think that might create some confusion to your traffic, especially if niches and competitions differs

Cpanel really will not help you work with all your websites together which is what I hear you saying. For this functionality, probably Plesk is better - they have special capabilities for WordPress there. They will also help you from having the same content on multiple sites which can show as duplicate content to Google.

I have not used Plesk before but understand it is a good solution - but with more functionality usually comes more complexity.

Are you hosting the sites here at WA? If not, have you checked out the site manager. Is that enough of a birds eye view for your needs? Sorry, I'm not sure if this is some technical webmaster term I'm not familiar with.
