I am just discovering CPA and have a few questions for that have/are using it as a money making strategy:

1) What is your favorite CPA network?

2) How do you choose

CPA ads not appealing to me too.

I have never really understood the appeal of CPA ads - it can be just as hard to get people to give up personal info as it can to make a sale. I looked into CPA a while ago, and never really found anything worth promoting.

That being said, people do make money in CPA, which is why it's popular in some crowds!

I like PeerFly and they seem to have good support from what I've used.

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks nathaniell. I had signed up with peerfly a while back from another website building program I was with. I may give it a shot since it never hurts to try!

I think it is good to mix in a few different methods of affiliate marketing and although some CPA doesn't pay off, if you can find the right one, it can be quite profitable. The current CPA I run is literally zero risk and does not request any credit card information or anything. I wouldn't bank my business on it, but I was fortunate to find a great company and contact to set up a mutually beneficial CPA for a product that has very limited competition among affiliates at the moment.

A lot of great questions here that I have myself. Looking forward to hearing some feedback. I just worked out an exclusive CPA deal with one of the companies I am promoting, which pays $15 per acquisition. I'll let you know how it pans out! All the best and much success to you!

Thats great for you! How did you go about making that deal if you don't mind my asking?

I simply reached directly out to the company. I told them I would like to try their product before reviewing it and give an unbiased honest review. Not only did I love the product, but I developed a good relationship going back and forth with one of the owners of the company. I asked him to set me up an exclusive free offer only available to my visitors and he agreed. Not only that, but they liked the article so much, they decided to put some money into advertising the article on their end this weekend. The post has been live less than 24 hours and I've already generated a couple conversions. I am super excited. This is the first big break since I've been here. Very cool! I would just reach out to one of the companies you are promoting. It can't hurt!

Any baby news yet?

Not yet, Uncle Bud. Due date is in two weeks, so it could really happen any time! I will keep my WA family posted :)

I haven't tried them yet. I too am interested to learn of other peep's experiences. Thanks for asking the questions. Cheers.

I love that about this community that we can all learn from each others experiences!

Just beginning in that field myself too. I think it may be a great thing If i can get my head around it too
Ken

I agree Kenny! I think it can be profitable, just looking for a little more guidance as to how to go about it!

You know Kelly from my little experience that tells me the CPA networks can be very hard to get into as most of them a flooded with members that they can turn down newbies without bothering them. My absolute best deal that I have found is WA. One of the top payouts in the business

Hello Kelly. Are you a member of the Warrior Forum? They usually have good special offers about CPA marketing. It can be a lucrative business and one that I would like to be involved in. Actually, I have purchased more than one product involving CPA marketing but got cold feet because of the opinion in the marketplace that it can be difficult to be approved by CPA Networks, the need to have a website and to be able to indicate your marketing strategies. I can suggest two (2) additional networks, Commission Junction and Offervault.com. Please keep us informed of your success and I wish you all the best.

What are your preferences as to a static home page vs. a blogroll as the homepage?

I currently have a blogroll set as my homepage, but would like to change it to a static

I like to have mine as a blogroll then i dont have to look at The same front when i Go to my page

How many posts would you say you add in a typical month?

Im slow about 7-8 thats incl reviews

Burnzy is right. Myself, I switch between static page and blog roll. Currently using blog roll.

what are the benefits of switching between the two? DO you find it helps with traffic?

I prefer blog roll, that way there is new content showing first, which I think makes your site a little more interesting

On my theme its under the appearance tab and then customize tab and then on the menu you should see a tab for static front page and start from there. Hope I could help.
Have a great day!

Good one John

Hi guys hopefully I don't confuse you on this. If you want to change your blog role you can login to WP and then while logged in you go to your website title up in the left hand corner. Now you should be in the view as if you were someone visiting your site. Now hover your mouse in the Simi transparent site name in the top left corner. This should bring up a sub menue. In that sub menu you should see the word customize. Click on customize. This should bring up another customization menue on the left side of the page. A couple of buttons down on that menue should give you an option for setting your static page. I apologize if this confuses you, good luck!

That's what I want to, thanks for you question, Loes

Hopefully you found an answer that works for you! :)

not yet satisfied, working on it, pff

Hi Kelly, oh how I wish I could help you, but I'm only just getting to this stage in training, and I haven't got the foggiest notion what any of this means - lol!

ha ha philp--you will all in good time!

Of that I'm sure Kelly - thanks.

Go in the settings area and look for reading then in reading you should see an option whether to use your homepage as a static or or as a blogroll. Its set to blogroll by default. If you click on static page; it will then ask you which page you want to use as your homepage and which page to use as your blogroll. Watch this training by Jay https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-and-managing-your-content/play . Scroll to minute 12 and minute 57. That should be area of most interest. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Thank you! This should help!

What is the content of the "static" page? How will the visitors find your "blogs page"?

In other words. What is it you want to achieve?
John

That is a good question. That's why I ultimately decided not to go with a static front page.

The static page would be a welcome/overview of my site. I was hoping to have a blog page in the menu? I just don't know how to do it.

OK, let's get philosophical about this. If I go to Yahoo.com, which I do 20 times a day, do I want to see the same "Hello Welcome, Overview" or do I want to see WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED while I was working on my website?

And that should answer your questions.
John

I'm just not sure I like the look of the blogroll.

Looking at your blog roll, I don't like it either. Display of Social Like Buttons? Get rid of them on the blog roll

1) Go to your social plug in and uncheck display on blog roll
2) Add Featured Image to your posts
3) Add a short (not more than 2 sentence) Excerpt that makes sense

Here is one excerpt on your roll.

TweetEver heard of “Fast Traffic Sniper,” or “Success with Anthony,” or “Partner with Anthony?” Run, run as fast as you can, this guy is a SCAM ARTIST! Let’s review what this program offers… Program Name: Success with Anthony Fast Traffic Sniper Website: http://successwithanthony.com/ Price: $67/$47/$7 (Depends on how many times you try to click

Does that make sense to you? Every Excerpts starts with "Tweet". Why? Because the Excerpts default with your theme grabs a certain portion of your content. You need to manually add the excerpt you want to show an the blog roll.

Takes a little bit of effort and work, but not more than maybe 2 min. once you get the hang of it.

4) Get rid of the big "Babe Ruth" image that takes 20 sec to load

Just telling you straight up.......no sick humor. Check your Theme's options about customizing your blog roll.

John Worthy

John,
So let's get philosophical. I don't like blogrolls, they most look ugly and with the same ennoying layout. I prefer static landing pages where you can work in different columns, different sizes, with sliders etc. You can also add your latest or most important posts on it. Your blogroll isn't Yahoo, but the business card of your Internet presence.
Blogrolls may be ok for most of us, but be sure, they aren't commercial.

Thank you, John, I wasn't sure how to fix that. I will get on it today and hopefully find a look I like.

You can do a "quick edit" on the post and click "make sticky"

what does a sticky post do?

It will make that post "stick" to the front page.

Do you have a schedule you follow when it comes to your time on WA? Do you spend X amount of time on your comments/questions/blogs and follow up or more on your website? Some da

Hi Kelly, that's good a question. For me since, I'm still new most of my time spend on learning the know-how.

Hey Kelly, I find following the certification courses in chronological order a good way to give some structure when I am overwhelmed and watching Jays video classes always offer great tid bits and it never hurts to rewatch them even if you have watched them already, failing that i do a lil post on whats on my mind or see what is going on in chat

Thanks--I havent gotten into chat much, but that is a good point that you can still help people while being occupied in your own thing

Most of the times i just pop in to see what people are talking about and if any problems they are having maybe something i have wanted to address. Sometimes Kyle or another well informed top member maybe around and you can learn alot from their responses even if you do not directly ask the question. Unfortunately for me I am working most of the day so I dont have much opportunity to fully interact

I am also learning that I must create scheduled time. My right hand, mouse hand, is almost totally numb ... as I suffer from some carpel tunnel issues and I have been working 10 to 12 hours per day. Likewise, I get sidetracked with email, blogs and questions ... and not enough time spent on study and content. So ... must create time specific schedule - or suffer the consequences! lol Melody

Hello Kelly,
What I can offer up to you is my own experience, and attempt to offer some guidance from my journey here so far. I was overjoyed when I first joined WA and spent all my time building a base of members I wanted to follow, posting comments, replying to comments and learning all that WA had to offer.

Then I suddenly hit overload, lol, and came to the realization that I must find a balance on how I spend my time. I was not getting the important stuff done, like building my website. So I had to pull back on the reins and start spending more time in Boot Camp.

I work a full time day job so I usually check emails and post comments early in the morning before work, and at lunch hour I will do the same along with a little study time. The evenings are for studying and working on website if I am able. Weekends are for all of the above.

So all I can tell you is you will get to the point where you will get past the overload like the rest of us did, by deciding for yourself what is most important to you and developing your own schedule that gets you where you really want to be!

I can assure you, once you get settled in and settled down into your own routine, the overload will diminish to a manageable level, Have a great week.....

Jack :)

Thanks, Jack. It sounds like my journey has been a lot like your up to this point. I don't have a full time job, but I am a full time at home mom which comes with its own set of challenges and time constraints so I guess finding the balance and deciding what is most important is key. Thanks for sharing this!

Yes of course you have a full time job, I should have mentioned that above, at a certain point your instinct of self preservation will kick in and you will balance it all out, lol!

I don't really have a schedule, but I'm on WA most of every day now. I respond to questions and comments, but I'd have to say at least 60% of my time is spent learning right now. When I have something new that I can apply, I work on my website.

That sounds like a good strategy, Joann. Thanks for sharing!

I have no schedule, I am a free spirit.

would you say you spend more time networking within the community or working on your own site?

It's half half.

Hi Kelly in my humble opinion you should spend 80% on your own website and 20% on WA. We all need to learn and help others but we need to put the time in to succeed to lead by example.

I am far from a expert but that is my opinion.

Much love Alan

I agree with your percentages, Alan.

That sounds like a good balance, Alan, and I like the lead by example. Thank you for sharing!

Hi
I spend 99% of my time learning and working on my websites and the other 1% answering some emails from WA. I cannot do both and I think learning and websites are more important for me, this is why you do not see me to much on the social side of it.

Doing both is what gets overwhelming! This is why I asked for peoples opinions :) Thanks for sharing

it works for me and getting good ratings in WA does not help your website ratings and I can't handle both.

At the moment I have vacation, and I start at about ten o'clock in the morning, until about the time I go to bed :) and that's not yet, it's now 00.25, in a few week I NEED to go on scedule, but now I put every minute of my awake day in WA

How do you balance your time between networking and being a good member of the community and working on your own projects?

:) I don't have a balance, when the gray earth button turns green, I react, set the video stop, see now and then if there is WA mail, and make some ajustments to my site, then do the checklist, before going on to the next lesson, I'm totaly chaotic, and I don't spend any time to networking, cause I first want to be succesfull before I get anybody involved, have too many errors on my resume to gain any trust.

yes Kelly I do also get overwhelmed too but it is all for the good of the system. The more you can commit the more that you will get out of it.
Ken

I agree. However, somedays I don't know whether to spend more time networking in the community or working on my site. And some days after I have "caught up" on my networking tasks, I am too tired to get to work on my website! lol So I was just more curious how others spend their time.

I am revamping my site a little bit and created a new heading for reviews. How can I take the review POSTS I have already written and change them to PAGES under this header? Whe

Good answer by caylynn

Thank you UncleBud. : ))

Everyone has a way of doing this, seeing below. My suggestion, only because by experience, if by chance I change my mind won't have to do all the changes in my menu, posts or pages.

If you want a post to become a page under a drop down menu, copy and paste and add as a new page. Then trash the post before you publish the new page (don't delete the post, you may change your mind again or edit the post to a different theme and title). Be sure and save the new page in draft before you go back to the post to trash.

If you want a post to be under the drop down menu and keep the post in your blog, then you need to do what John has said. What are nice about posts is you can assign them to any category or categories and into the drop down menu as a 'category'.

Keep in mind your reader, because everything you do they will follow. Make sure your pathways make relevant sense. Hope this helps in making your decision. ^_~

HI Caylynn I've done exactly what you said, now one off the image is not showing in my draft, I haven't left that page yet to go back to post n trash it.all the other icon are showing exect the main image

Sorry for the delay. In and out of WA so much forget to check in the dashboard. Not understanding your question. Will follow you. Please PM me so I can help you and get to your faster. ^_~

No need to change, you just create a page and call it reviews and then go to settings and make your blog page reviews.

Then you should have an option in the reviews page to make the template a blog and you chan use only review categories only in that page.

That's sounds a bit confusing. It just means you can have a page with only reviews in and have it in your top menu.

what theme are you using?

I am running toothpaste currently. I may update that later once I get the rest of the content I am working on up.

ok I'm just checking that theme to see if you have the options you need to do it.

If i'm not back in 5 mins it means I hat to shut up shop and I reply in the morn ( 1am here )

Yes it can be done this is what you need to do:

1 - Go to a post ( any post ) and create a category called reviews
2 - Create a new page called reviews and choose the page template as blog
3 - Go to settings>reading and choose your blog page as reviews.

Then you can place your review page in the menu.

Does that work for you? It means you have a page with reviews in ( as posts ) that you can have in your menu.

Don't forget to choose the category as reviews when making a post review.
However, just checking, I think your theme is limited whereby it does not allow multiple pages for different blog categories but give that a try and see how it works for you

I did the exact opposite on lookinggreat.com I had a page of beauty tips and each paragraph was unrelated to any other. I left some general content on the page then I copied and pasted one paragraph at a time and created a post with it's own headline, categories and tags, deleting it from the page as I did this. ~Marion

Why do you want to do this so maybe we can get you a better solution. There's no easy way to do it, and very few reasons to. If the reason is that you want to put it into a menu, you can use custom menus as normal, but paste your post link into the "custom link" area.

LOL. I just read your thing again and see that I was off base on what you were looking for. Sorry about that :) Sounds like John has a good solution for you!

Why would you do that.....converting to pages I mean. Keep them as posts on your blog roll. Go to Menus From your WP dash board.
Then click on SCREEN OPTIONS on the top right, just below the Howdy Kellyrae82 or your name.

Then check the box POSTS

Now you can create your menu item "Reviews" for example.

Click on links and instead of entering a URL put a # sign in there.
Name the menu item, put it in the spot you want it

and then add the posts under it like you would pages.

Posts have some pluses vs pages.

That sound like a great idea, John. I'm going to try it on one of my websites. ~Marion

Thanks John--that sounds like what I am trying to do! I want the reviews I already made as posts to show up under one of my menu categories, so this should solve the problem!

Take a look at my site. I just show "my recommended programs" in the main menu.
The others are in the Category widget on the side bar

If you need some help with this, including sub menus in the side bar, PM me
John

I got it--thank you so much for the help!

I asked Jay this question and he said you can't change blog to a post or a post to a blog. Don't do it.

If you add a category to you main menu for "Reviews", then you would just go into each post and click the category for "Review" and it will automatically make that post show up under that heading on your main menu. Doing it this way gives you more flexibility with where your posts show up. You can actually have a post show up under more than one category this way.

Hope that helps!
Christy

That's a great idea, Chaussler. I never thought to assign more than one category to my posts.

Hi Kellyrae,
This is something I've wondered myself in the past. I'd like to add some of my posts to be found more easily (especially the reviews) like the pages are in the menu. In my searching here, I came across this training https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/using-categories-to-enhance-your-menu-bar/directing-a-menu-to-a-blog-roll by Jaweda2k which sounds exactly like what I had been thinking of doing.

This won't turn them into a page, but it'll make your posts be easier to find and you could add "reviews" as a category to your review posts...or even break them into smaller subcategories of different types of reviews.

Hope this helps you out some and best wishes :) -Sherry

Thanks, Sherry I will check that out!

I would copy and paste a post into notepad..then next make a new page and paste into it ..delete old post..hope this helps

And I won't have to worry about links that I have on social networks or anything? I just dont want to mess up all my hard work now that I know a Little bit more what I am doing ;)

if you have links built into your postings just remember where they lead to.You will have to re link them when you copy your post page and paste it into a page..

Thanks!

How do i change posts to pages?

How do i change posts to pages?

Just would like to hear your thoughts about your favorite WP plugin and why?

Wp photo gallery. I show off some of my artwork on my site and it helps with all the photos.
Have a great day!

Awesome tip, thanks!

Limit Login Attempts. Some of my websites were hacked a while back by people using bots to get into them and leaving malware. HostGator deleted the extra malware files with the warning that if it happened again within 6 months they would have to charge me to do it next time. I can't even get into my own websites if I don't have the right username and password combination. NEVER use "Admin" or the name that appears as part of your email address. I use one secret username for all my websites but the passwords are all different. ~Marion

limit login attempts is the name of a plugin? Or are you just saying to be careful about how many times I get on my site?

"Limit Login Attempts" is the name of the plugin, I get an email if anyone tries to login more than 4 times, even if it's me and I typed in the wrong password to test it. ~Marion

Haven't been around long enough yet!

Thats ok! Thanks anyway :) Feel free to comment when you have one lol

Akismet, Used by millions, is quite possibly the best way in the world to protect your blog from comment and trackback spam

I have this one and so far have had success with spam comments being caught!

Pretty link would be my choice too Haven't tried statpress yet but I'm heading there now

I have pretty link activated but have no idea if its doing anything.
If I copy my affiliate link and past into HTML, is pretty links involved or is there something I'm not doing? Thanks

go to new link and then add whatever link you want to change so that it will be easy for you to remember. for example yoursite/wa for your wealthy affiliate link Then you don't have to go searching for your affiliate links when you are marketing your products

I have Pretty Link Lite on a couple of my websites. I copied and pasted my affiliate link into it and got a short link to use on Facebook to link to WA. http://marionblack.co/tvm4 takes people to one of my WA blogs. I tested it and it works

Statpress and pretty link lite - between them you can get real time statistics and click through rates from your site and as a marketer unless your testing and changing your site your sunk, so these plugins are to invaluable to me.

Barry

Thanks-- I already use pretty link, but I haven't heard of statpress--I will check it out!

TinyMCE, but it's not working anymore since the last frigging WP update and I am not happy about it.
John

I agree with you, that was an awesome plugin

Barry

What did that plugin do? It's one I've never heard of. Perhaps there is another plugin that will do the same thing. ~Marion

It 's a text editor plugin - which was free (although there was a paid version as well). Because of wordpress changes the developer was forced to make a lot of changes and therefore there is only a paid plugin called WP Edit Pro. It's a good plugin and my favourite one.

TineMCE Advanced works to some extend, except the U (underline) and BR (hard line space). But it gives you Font Style & Font Size, sub script and super script, among other things WP regards as useless.

I have not upgraded yet by the way
John

this sounds awesome--why is it not working any more?

Beverly - a quick question - I use WP Edit as well, but have not purchased the Pro version. In your opinion should I but the plugin?
... thanks - Joanne

Jetpack
Just takes care of so many things. Tracks visitors, adds cool widgets, etc

And it is not recommended at WA.
Take a look at Carsons comment at the bottom of this post and you will see that jetpack is a no go at WA.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/everything-wordpress/jetpack-blacklisted

I didnt know that Giludi. Was speaking from my own experience using that plugin. Ive been using it for awhile without much problems but ill definitely look into that. Thanks for the heads up.

"Go"

It makes awesome comparison tables. It's from Code Canyon, and it's a paid plugin.

Thanks nathaniell, just took a look at code canyon, lots of great stuff on there I have booked marked this site looks very useful indeed

Barry

I will check out code canyon--thanks for the tip!

sunspot but you most likely won't like it
Ken

why is that? I have not heard of that one--what is it for?

It is a responsive theme but it is also dark colors
