I gave an offer that ended this past weekend. How do I remove the post now that it is 'old'?

Go to Posts > All Posts and click on Quick Edit for the post you want to remove. Change the status from Published to Draft.

Thank you so much Marion! I appreciate your help!

Amazon suggests putting it at the end of the body tag of my site template. What does that mean? I am trying to utilize their onetag that allows people to buy from US, CA, or UK

I have the same problem here Kelanders and thanks for raising the question.

Could we put it where we are already putting our existing Amazon links?

Can you remind me where that one was? I can't seem to figure that out since I did it a number of months ago when I was fairly new!

I am not sure what "one" you mean.

I am wondering if I can simply replace all my existing Amazon links (for U.S. only) with the new link so they will work for Canada and the UK.

The existing Amazon link, is there a typical place that is put?

No, it is highly dependent on you own post structure. Some people use only text links in the natural flow of the text. Some use image links that have the Amazon picture of the product. Some use both. It depends on how you want to do it.

Some just put the links at the end or to the side.

I use both. I put text links in where I mention the product and image + text links (Amazon's not my own) that have the picture of the product and say "Amazon" and the price underneath my description of the product. I have a ton of Amazon links on my site so it would be a pain to replace them all with the new links.

Yes, got it. So this new code which allows people from different amazon sites all go through your link must internally do it for your whole site. Thank you!

I really don't know. I haven't learned about it yet. It sounds that way though.

The OneLink code is there to tell OneLink that your account is getting a referral. It will then retrieve your product from the one clicked and build the link depending on the country of the visitor (and of course it has to be one of the countries that are currently supported by OneLink). The user will then be sent to the correct URL + ID.

You place the OneLink code only once on your site, such as your footer section. For Genesis related themes, there is a section within WordPress to configure footer and header.
For other themes you can install the footer and header plugin.

Product links are placed just as normal within your posts with the SiteStripe bar for text, text+image, image.

Steven

Thank you for that info!

Ok, thanks!

Thanks. That helped a lot :)

If you install the Header & Footer plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/header-footer/ it lets you inject code practically anywhere on your site, <head>, <body>,

, etc.

Just click on Settings > Header and Footer after you've installed and activated to see the panels where you can paste the code.

Thank you for your answer! Can I only do it with a plugin? I don't love adding plugins as they can slow down my site. Wondering if there is another way through appearance>editor?

You can do it by editing your theme, however you'll have to redo it at every theme update or create a child theme.

It's also a myth that adding plugins slows down a site, I have over 100 on mine! It's the overhead of specific plugins that is the issue, often one plugin alone can have the overhead of another twenty or more different plugins. The Header & Footer plugin has minimal overhead.

You can always check for any resource hogs by installing another plugin (!) P3 https://wordpress.org/plugins/p3-profiler/

Thank you, Rich, this was very helpful and insightful!

No probs. you're most welcome! :)

Hi Richard, thanks for this tip. It is exactly what I was looking for.

I have mailchimp and have created a popup overlay with subscribe info. Where do I paste the code they give me onto my website?

Hey Katie,

I would assume you would put the code on which ever page/post you want the popup to appear on. Most websites that use a popup place it on their home page.

Yes, I want it on the home page but also in any page that someone visits. So any page they come to. I just can't figure out where to paste it.

Hi, I just did that to my website but it's not a pop-up, it's on my side bar on the right hand side. It's on all pages and posts, I followed a tutorial from the place I'm with called Benchmark which is not a plugin. Doesn't Mailchip have a tutorial to show you how?

I didn't use a pop up because I myself don't like it that way. As long as it's visible at the top and large enough, it's all you need.
I pasted the code in a Widget in Appearance.

Let me know if you want to see mine and I'll PM you my website, or you can go to my profile, bottom right hand side and my website it posted there.

Thank you, I'll take a look!

Noper Patsy, mailchimp offers no tutorial ... and they're losing customers to Benchmark because of this one issue.

Hey Katie,

You would need to place that short code in the text window of EACH and EVERY page you want the pop-up to appear on ... as far as I am aware of.

Personally, I would try pasting it at the very top of the page/post and test your posts and pages to see if that works right for you.

I do not like pop-ups so I do not know for certain. You could try placing the code in a text widget like Patsy suggested ... but what about pages you don't use a sidebar on.

Sorry I cannot offer you better help than this.

No problem, thank you for your help. Yes, the free mailchimp gives no help. I'll look into benchmark...

Hi Trish :)

I looked into a few before deciding and Benchmark has everything, even autoresponders. They even have the double opt-in so the sign ups are real not fake ones.
Being a newbie and illiterate for these things still, this was the best one!

Hi Trish, I agree about pop ups they annoy me and I leave.

Mine is on all pages and posts on the right hand side sidebar and it looks great.

I see your sign up on my mobile device too. Are you getting lots of people signing up for your emails? Just curious. I'm not a huge fan of pop ups either, but I've read that they convert really well.

Hi, no I don't have any traffic except for members commenting, posting on Google+ etc. I'm still working on adding more to my website, I feel I'm behind with things coming up lately.

The only sign up was the 'test' for it :)

I'll get there.

You will get there! Life happens along the way. All the best!

Congratulation

If you've changed the favicon through the customize section, and clicked on Save and Publish then it could be a caching issue. Have a look at your website in a different browser. If it's still a problem then check out this video

Okay, will do. I did look in a different browser and unfortunately that didn't change things. I'll take a look at your video. Thank you!

I want to put at the bottom of a post, email me @.... if you have any questions. Can I make my email address a link?

You don't have to 'link' it.

I just add it to all of my pages as posts, by simply typing it in and all they do is 'click' on it.

Once you publish it and are not in 'edit' mode, it's ready to click and goes to your email.

Thanks!

Sorry, I went to check and for some reason it's not clickable.
I need to figure out why.
I have it the way we did it in the lessons way back, but have an idea of how to fix that, without linking.
My apologies!

No worries, when I make it a link, it automatically does it for me now!

Awesome!

I don't know why, but when I send myself an email with my website email address, it comes up highlighted (just like a regular website address because it ends with dot com) and when you click on it a window opens to send an email.

In edit mode while adding your email address to your post, once it's published, it doesn't come up highlighted?
So
I copied my 'highlighted' website email address and 'pasted' it to my post in edit mode and it works. it's highlighted. I update my post and there it is highlighted and clickable.

Nice!

I did all that before seeing that comment with how to link it in :D

Oh no! There's just so much to learn and it all gets confusing at times, even the "easy" stuff!

I know there is so much to learn for sure.

I think I may just copy and paste it like I did to the one page, on the rest of them. Strange how it doesn't do it automatically anyway.

If you didn't write this post I would have never known, so thanks for doing that :)

yes you can!

Yeah, the easiest way to do that is to make it a link just like you usually do when you're adding a link to some other content. Generally, Wordpress recognizes that you're adding a link to your email address and does everything for you. If you see "http://" before your email in the URL field, you can manually change it to "mailto:"
Hope this helps!

Thank you!

Here you go sir:

Thanks!
