Good day, Wealthy Affiliate at home working?

Most people are experiencing some of the longest and most extensive 'staycations' ever dreamed of, especially, the school kids who are more than thrilled at being 'home-schooled' now for, apparently, an indefinite period of time!

While having a look at some of the numbers for working at home, I found some interesting stats -- facts & figures that popped up:

Did you know?

Generally, it has been noted that the average profile of a corporate remote worker is:

--- college educated or better

--- on average, 45 years young or more

--- typically earns 58k+ in salary

--- and works for a company of 100+ employees

Now with the current world conditions in lock down:

Social or rather physical distancing to combat the corona virus outbreak are forcing millions of Americans to be in 'shelter at place' such as in one's home and to work remotely.

While the trend of working at home has been on the rise --- regular work at home has been growing at a phenomenal 173 percent since 2005 according to Global Workplace Analytics.

Global Workplace Analytics found that companies save an average of $11,000 per year per employee who works remotely part-time.

While research indicates the best work from home system requires 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days at home, can employees still be productive during this outbreak?

(Source: CNBC, March 23, 2020 -- from Wall Street to Main Street)

It is, perhaps, too early to tell at this stage to answer the question regarding productivity as the external condition are likely affecting everyone's morale. With everyone at home, it is quite an adjustment to make, especially, if one has children out of school.

And the changes in schedules, worry or anxiety that accompanies any kind of change, may lead to a dampening on productivity.

What do you think? .... of how productivity may be affected in the short-term, longer term? ...

Hi Keisha, interesting stats. I am still going to work every day. Our factory is determined to be needed because our products are used in military and medical equipment.

A few of our engineers and office staff are able to telecommute. But, unfortunately, I run a CNC grinding machine and must be there to actually run production parts.

We have had one confirmed COVID-19 employee that was sent home last Thursday. Now, we are all very much more aware of the risks associated with this.

Productivity still suffers in a small way. I am interested in seeing more data on this as more people are telecommuting.

I wish you the best!

Bob

.... hi Bob .... always delighted to hear from you and to see that you're doing well ....

it's a very unusual time in humankind's history -- hopefully it'll be a very quick blip ...

yes, there's been quite an uptick in the ones who can work from home and likely will increase even more given the world situation right now ...

please do keep well, keep healthy & safe ...

all the best as usual ... cheerio ... ⭐️🏆⭐️ ....

You keep healthy as well.

Right now, I think a lot of people are in a state of shock about all of the changes. So, productivity may be down while we adjust to the rapidly changing world.

Yet, as time goes by, I think productivity will increase for those of us that are not trying to figure out how to keep bored children engaged in positive activities.

Take care of yourself.

... you're right -- the changes have seemingly happened so rapidly that people need the time and space to adjust to the ever changing conditions .... this is so incredible for the whole world ....

.... you, too, keep well, keep healthy & safe ....

all the best ... and thanks kindly for your reply ....⭐️🏆⭐️ ...

Well, one thing for sure the coffee tastes a whole lot better at home and is way more relaxing. For many, it will be the first taste of that work from home, opportunity. Some won't like it and some will be like a duck to water.

Being at home is one thing, being locked down another, that irresistible urge to go shopping can be a hard one to beat.

It may become the new norm, definitely need to develop a workable routine very quickly to make it productive.

Thank you for the motivation, Keisha it has been one of those where did the day go days.
Sandra

Seems as if most of my friends can work from home. I have learnt in the last few days that working from home Is great when your family are not also at home. I was using this oportunity to get my traing done for WA but so far have prepped vegetables, done some gardening , a day of homeschooling and lots of time in the kitchen cooking and clearing up after myself. So today I'm up early to get some digital stuff done.

Have a great morning all

hey hi Jason .... good to see you here today ....

enjoy a cuppa or two ...☕️ ☕️ ... to help waken your digital day ..

Working from home can be very productive if you've got the right mindset (self-discipline), a good workspace (out of sight, out of mind), the right infrastructure (phones, computers, printers, etc.), and time management skills.

When I first started working from home, well over a decade ago, I took over an extra room. I learned very quickly that wouldn't work.

So I took 1/4 of my basement/garage and built a 12x12 office, complete with a locking door, plenty of overhead light, and a couch.

I also had signs like "On Conference Call", "Do Not Enter", and "Yes, I'm Actually Working", to further deter intruders.

Distractions, whether by family, games, or wandering onto the internet are the big productivity killers. Then there are some people who just have to have that physical interaction and direction.

For some, it's a welcome change, for others a vacation, and yet others will pull their hair out.

Stay Well,

Michael

... lol .. excellent, Michael! ... you've started off with a great mindset and went on from there! ... look at all you've gained from the experience ... Congrats! ....

... oh, by the WAy, are you still working from home in your vaulted office? ... i like the idea of couch in the office for all those extra zzzs ... lol ...

... keep well & healthy ... cheerio ... ⭐️🏆⭐️😊⭐️

Oh, yes. Still working from home. Sometimes you just have to lay down on those loooong conference calls.

.... lol .... just don't let them hear you zzzing .. might be an idea to remember to switch the speakerphone to 'mute' ... chuckles! ...
