Dear Wonderful Wealthy Affiliate members, starters, newbies, seasoned entrepreneurs!

Are there such things as Mistakes?

If there are, then, what are they?

What are Mistakes?

It's always best to start with the definition so that we are clear on the actual meaning of a word we use so that we can understand what we are saying to others and for others to receive what we are saying correctly in return.

Did that make sense?

Ok, let's carry onward:

The word 'Mistake' can be used as a noun or as a verb according to Dictionary dot com.

Mistake as a noun = ".... is an error in action, calculation, opinion, or judgment caused by poor reasoning, carelessness, insufficient knowledge, as well as, a misunderstanding or misconception."

Mistake used as a verb = " such as mistook, mistaken, or mistaking" --- whereby: "to understand, interpret, or evaluate wrongly; misunderstand; misinterpret."

Now that we have the definition of 'mistake' taken care of --- hope that is clear?

Let's continue our chat here today:

As we meander or thunder along our learning journey here at Wealthy Affiliate, we may encounter what we might think are mistakes made as we're trying to build our websites, or to get our websites to rank on a search engine and taking 'massive' action?

Well, all of a sudden, we come to a stand-still, because we've made a Mistake!

Gawd, those feelings of frustration or numbness or paralysis can set in and cause us to come to a Full Stop!

Has this happened to you?

Most of us have experienced this along the riverbed of life flowing, no matter whether on a rough trail or smooth highway on our route to success.

The most important point to remember is to pick ourselves UP and to GET GO again!

Even if the path before us is rather fuzzy or unclear . . .

... as in the dictionary definition, we may just realize that we might possess 'insufficient knowledge' to progress further along and may then misinterpret or misunderstand causing what is seemingly a 'mistake.'

Despite this, we need to overcome that hesitancy by continuing to plug forward in using the building blocks given to us in the step by step training ...

Keep taking action and keep on, keeping ON ...

"Mistakes are meant for learning, not for repeating!" ---- Unknown. ----

Some remedies:

1. call a friend;

2. ask your burning question;

3. key in your question on fire here via the Help Center;

4. send a message to your Coach;

5. review or re-look a training video;

6. attend a Live Webinar;

7. google it; (yes, google has become so big, it's now a verb, an action word!)

8. call your Mom or Dad, Uncle or Aunt, or a respected one and enjoy a wee chat;

9. take your furry best friend out for a fresh air walk & enjoy a treat!

What remedy would you use or better yet, what remedy would you like to recommend that may be helpful or beneficial for others?

well, surely, there are many other remedies available, just a few above to share to help get you moving if you're ever feeling stuck!

BE Unstuck! ... go with the flow ... like the WA blog roll keeps on rolling ...

Mistakes are highly underrated.

They are the prime source of learning.
There should be statues in honour of mistakes in prominent places all around the world (one could be "standin on a corner in Winslow, Arizona").

However, there is one notable absentee in your list of remedies:

Our common sense and good judgement.

How do you learn to differentiate between right or wrong, dumb or smart if you always look for someone else's opinion?

A mistake only becomes a mistake when you reflect on the action.
Otherwise, it is just something you did and never bothered to look back and check.

As you suggested, I took my furry friend for a walk to clear my head.
Apart from a lot of dragging, pushing and tending to my bloody scratches, we had a lovely time.
Seemingly my cat doesn't enjoy walks as much as I do.

Mistakes are like salt - you need some to grow and function properly, but too much will kill you (or the cat).

Thanks for throwing the subject into the mix.

*** Super fulsome reply, Martin! ...

..... always a delight to read your replies as they hold so much insight ....

.... and yes, agree, using one's common sense and good judgement are helpful ...

... however, we all know that 'common sense' is seemingly a 'rare commodity' these days and if someone is in 'distress' post-mistake, the emotions have taken over 'reason' ...

.... hence, the reach outwardly for help! ... or maybe it's a 'yelp for help! .... lol ...

and hey! ... that's terrific, enjoying a wee walk with your kitty ... very brave of you! ...

... actually, a neighbour up the street 'walks her kitty' by taking her out for a 'carry' or she 'walks her kitty' in a wee buggy like the ones they use for kids ... all to say, they're both enjoying the fresh outdoor air! ...

appreciate you popping by to enjoy a wee chat and visit together here ... keep well, stay strong ...

all the best, cheerio ... :)

Yes, you are right about the emotions.

But, what happened to common sense, critical thinking, good manners and a healthy dose of "don't-believe-every-crap-you-read-or-hear"?

Maybe it's a generation thing, clogged venes or talking too much to the cat...

Having breakkie now.
Martin

... common sense has become a 'rare sense!' ...

perhaps, we've reached Peak Everything and are now on the downhill slide .... it's been written about ....

therefore, if that's truly the case, best to enjoy each and every day like there's no tomorrow!

enjoy a wonderful weekend .... :)

Good Morning Keisha,

In real life I see mistakes as lessons. Learn and move on.

Having a website, one makes lots of mistakes. I was so happy I found the place with the Undo icon. That is a brilliant invention. Using that you go back to before you made that mistake and you can try again.
Now if life would have an icon like that, but that is dreaming

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske.

hip hey (fleekie saying!) ... hip hey! ....chuckles!

... hip hey, Taetske! ... lol ... (just practicing 'hip hey')

yes, excellent one on the Undo ... brilliant! ... just like YOU! ....

You're like a Bright STAR! ... ⭐ ...

enjoy a Fabulous Friday, maybe we'll see you at the live webinar with Jay? ..

keep well, stay happy, healthy & strong, cheerio-o ... :)

That was very nice of you Keisha, gracias.
Sorry, old girls like me are sleeping when Jay is talking.

Taetske

oh ... it's all ok ... thank goodness there are replays ...

alright, enjoy a beautiful weekend ... 🎉 ... :)

Great advice and that is the problem with emotionally charged words, the emotion attached is bigger than the meaning of the word itself.

A word is only given meaning by the emotion we give it and therefore it becomes comes confused.

People confuse identity (so who we are) with a behaviour. So " I am a failure" means "you did things that did not get the result you wanted this time"

We are never the behaviour and yet people always confuse the two!

I enjoyed reading thankyou! Phil

hi Phil ....

appreciate your reply as it demonstrates a true understanding of the human condition when it comes to 'emotions' .... and agree, emotions are such in 'flux' most times when people feel and can become confused due to the 'power' of emotions ...

now where on earth can anyone learn about 'emotions?' ....

enjoy a Fabulous Friday & perhaps we'll see you in the magistudios theatre for the weekly webinar ...

keep well, all the very best.... :)

Everyday I learn something new. Whether it is an opportunity to correct the error that was done the day before. I still manage to learn something new. Thank you for this post. It has allowed me to reflect on my mistakes of my past to ensure that the fine tuning of my future.

*** Wonderful, Simone! ... beautifully said .... :) ***

It took me four months back in 2014 to get KessAudio into reality. My goodness, the darn walls I had to climb, people I had to deal with and the daily frustration that came with that part of my journey. I only really knew one thing, KessAudio was going to become real. My why, that was important also was becuase that is what I wanted! Plan and simple, I did not know how to do paperwork, accounting, dealing the the local goverment, but in the end I got a my part of a building, built the walls, put in the electical and built the bathroom. I made an office in the front and a band room in the back. Four months of never giving in on my desire! Did I mess up, Oh ya I sure did. Oh well, I still made it happen. Here, it is no different. If you want it to be, then it will be. There is simply no way around that when someone wants something.

Look at some of the fun stuff I get to do! Heck, I have a selfie of myself in a bathroom of a church next to a race engine. That was very cool.

hey --- what a fantastic story! ... love it! .... overcoming the obstacles while climbing the mountain! (so to speak) ...

And you got there! .... Big Congrats! ....

That's a life defining moment for you ...

Four months of tough slogging and yes, you got there! ....

Super story! ... thanks so much for telling it like it was for you and the benefit of today ..... chuckles! .... what a picture that must be ...

would it be suitable for posting? ... :)
