This is Polly the Parrot today -- just to get the word out! --
This is a Public Service Announcement containing essential information for the attention of all WA members!
Having been a 'worry-wort' regarding the security of sites and particularly when having websites that generate revenue --- then, you need to read this important featured commentary by Kyle, Co-Owner of Wealthy Affiliate.
Some time ago, in another land, on a similar matter, I was asked to write about plug-ins ... frankly, with over 48,000+ free WordPress PlugIns available and as many as about 60,000 in total including premium ones -- a very daunting task and I don't think the person was actually serious.
Seriously!
Today we have a key message from Kyle, WA Co-Owner and I was hoping someone would have picked up the ball by now and have run with it.
Alas, nope. So here is the blog on it.

What is a WordPress PlugIn?
Just in case, for those who may be scratching their heads a bit on what the heck is a plugin ...
A WordPress PlugIn is a piece of software application (or app) that either enhances a certain functionality or it provides a new feature for your WordPress website -- can serve many purposes depending upon the requirements of the web-builder/designer.
Now, we are aware that the recommended number is about 5 or 6 plugins for our sites through the training. At one point, I think I read that someone was using up to something like 26 plugins for their website. Imagine the load on that site! ... Wow! ...
Incredible! ... or Incredulous? ...
How many plugins do you use? . . .

hi Adrian -- yes, if we can save a plug-in and create that extra space for our site and know that WA SiteProtect is more than sufficient, then let's keep going onto success! ..
apparently it only take incorrect plug-in to 'gum up' the works so to speak--- suggest testing each and every new theme + plugin(s) in your sandbox first for functionality ...

Thank you for sharing this:). I guess I missed the email that Kyle sent out last year. I actually have Wordfence activated on my site. I guess I don't need it anymore. Well...that will be one less plugin:)

Well that's that said the cat to the rat and remember folks every plug-in is simply extra code, extra code takes extra time to execute, it's going to affect response time it's inevitable. Be sure ask Kyle has pointed out without saying as much that your plug-in will 100% enhance your system. Don't play in the busy street you'll get hit by traffic.
