It depends upon the growing region of sun which all flowering plants need -- and for plentiful poppies -- best grown where the climate is warmer with sun ...
as for Flander's fields -- this was in West Belgium ...
and if you love the poppies -- simply go to your local nursery and check for the variety that can be best grown in your region ...

If you're ever in Kansas City, Missouri, it is home to the official WW1 museum, and their are poppy fields indoors that you cross over on a suspended bridge into the museum proper. It is an awesome place to visit!
