Computing Power!

Hi Everyone! ... this posting is an expression of interest in learning more about the best choice for the computing power that is needed to really 'get-go' for success with Wealthy Affiliate.

The training has been fantastic to date with lots to learn and to do... along the way though, I have discovered that there are seemingly many, many software programs to run in a number of areas such as design / graphics, videos, text, numerics, et al. An understanding of coding is almost a necessity. New literacy. Feeling like a dunce some days! ...

PC or MAC

Well, perhaps the discussion of whether to invest in a PC or MAC may be considered dated, however, there must be pros and cons to both, advantages and disadvantages....

I checked in with my favourite techie guru and he advised that PCs are still in vogue among businesses due to its better range of functionalities. Does this hold true? What is your opinion on the use of a MAC for a web-based business? Your expertise / experience / share would be much appreciated.

INVESTMENT

Computers with the right 'installs' are quite an investment. Really not a 'techie' here, just would like to garner the top opinions of what members find useful for their computing needs, before making the next needed purchase of a dedicated computer for building the WA business over the long-run.

In the short-run, currently using Windows 10 and it has its own quirks 'n quarks. It's always good to obtain some solid independent advice on investments. As they say, 'ask those who have gone the distance & are now coming back....'

Your esteemed commentary would be appreciated!

I have used windows for many years going from 3.1 through to windows 10 which I now use on my desktop and my laptop.

Derek

The tried & true! ... by any chance, would you ever think of using a MAC? ... thanks kindly for your reply....cheerio... :)

I have thought about it several times, but the thought of buying a lot of new programs and learning a new operating system have always put me off.

Derek

thanks kindly for your opinion -- appreciate your frankness... enjoy a wonderful day! ... :)

Not a Techie myself. I'm just using my 8-year-old computer with Windows 7. LOL, Everything is working good right now. LOL
All the best,
Wendi

That's wonderful! ... my ol' laptop lasted something like 12 or 13 years with Windows XP -- it was the best ever platform built -- had everything in it ... it would still be running today if it was still tech.supported... thanks kindly for commenting... enjoy a beautiful day! ... cheerio.. :)

It is all your choice. I have Windows 8 and I am going to upgrade soon. Everyone has his or her preference. As far as which one works best, in my opinion, they are all pretty much the same, it's all that you get used to or know how to operate. Kind of like which car do you prefer.

Appreciate your comment -- thanks kindly for taking the time to reply...all the best, cheerio... :)

Hey! I want a Mac so badly lol, currently I’m using my iPad 10,5 inch pro, my iPhone 6, and my computer that’s just a usb stick plugged into my flat screen for wealthy affiliate.

Thanks kindly for sharing your computer experience -- much appreciated... it sounds like you're a real Apple fan vs PCs? ....

Great post-Keisha. Without a computer or the internet, there would be no Wealthy Affiliate!

Absolutely right! ... thanks kindly for your super comment! ... :)

Hi Keisha, I started using a Mac a few years ago and have been very pleased with its capability with many graphics and photo/video making features built in. To me it has been worth the additional investment, which was a risk at the time, because I did not know Macs, but now I would not hesitate to reinvest Best Alan

Thanks so kind for your reply & sharing of your experience with a Mac -- I realize it takes time to get used to using something new...and Macs are quite an investment -- was just wondering about their maintenance re: updates, battery life, longevity of support, etc.? ... cheerio... :)

Helpfull post!

Thanks for sharing, Keisha.
