Travel and tourism are big economic drivers for local markets and hold a huge attraction factor for visitors . . .
Especially ones that hold natural beauty and of all things interesting and different.
What about the thought of being 'marooned' on a tropical island paradise -- does that appeal to you?
Likely under normal circumstances, yes.
These days ... uhm .... maybe, perhaps, yes, perhaps no. ... or as a friend of mine likes to say, 'yano.' ... lol .... likely depends upon one's perspective . . .
Well, finally, it has happened ...
Because of the global viral 'crackdown' ....
..... and as reported in the Star Advertiser, Wednesday, March 25, 2020, Gov. David Ige have decreed, all arrivals, residents returning to Hawaii (including visitors) to undergo a 14-day quarantine starting Thursday, March 26th.
The dictum — a first of its kind in the nation — represents the final blow in temporarily knocking the life out of Hawaii’s tourism industry, the vital economic pipeline of the state.
But Governor Ige, who stood alongside travel and visitor industry leaders at a state Capitol news conference, stated it was essential to safeguard the greater community and population.
After seeing this announcement, it's easy to imagine what being 'quarantined' on the islands might be like .... just imagine . . .

Good evening my dear friend, I'm so sorry this is happening to you and to the island however, if I have to be quarantined I would love to be there in Hawaii. Here in Boston they have a somewhat quarantine which means at 12 noon everything has to shut down except for your essential businesses. Me working for the newspaper is one of those. Everything is like a ghost town, I come home and I barely see anyone on the streets at all. It's a horror story My friend, you still be in my prayers be safe be healthy.
... oh wow! .. 12 noon! ... so get your biz done in the morning and then done for the day ... gotta say, the streets offer such a different vibe ... and the people are much more cognizant of 'personal space' these days, too! ....
... well, i hope that all this will be for a better world -- the levels of air pollution is going down and fresh air & blue skies are going UP! ... and people are generally a wee bit more respectful and even considerate ... lol ...

If this the standard for being quarantined? I might just take it, as long as the coffee, pineapples, pina coloda, (and toilet paper) don't run out. I should be good 👍
But I wonder how long I would last without human contact though? I guess I need my laptop for video chatting too. 🤔
