Beginnings & Finishings

Last Update: September 20, 2020

The Journey:

What is your story?

Is it vital to have a personal story on one's journey?

Some say, yes, and some say, nope.

Which one is it?

Here at Wealthy Affiliate -- yes, there is a Journey.

It's called a Journey to Success!

That's my coin for it . . .

Beginnings & Finishings

--"You can't go back (in time) and change the beginning, (however), you can start where you are (now) and change the ending (or finishing)."--

*Clive Staples Lewis, (better known as C.S. Lewis), 1898 - 1963, writer and lay theologian.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Well, C.S. Lewis has just said what many others have said before him and are still saying it:

the idea that one can not go back . . . not ever go back . . . is that true to you? . . .

yes, in those moments, things change and change quickly . . . most times it's best to not ever look back . . . keep going forward . . .

this is a New Sunday of September 20, 2020, ready to usher in a New Monday . . .

Are you ready with your story?

My story is just beginning.

How about yours?

. . . log on . . . blog on . . .

"log on . . . blog on"
I love that Keisha and thank you for this thought-provoking post to start the week.
We are still writing the story with no end in sight just yet. I am more conscious of the need to remember the journey nowadays, more so than when I was younger. (Cannot recall much of my twenties, whoops!)
Have a spectacular week.

.... yes, love it! .... log ON .... blog ON ..... sounds like a song....

that's just what came out as smiles do .... when composing ...

plus with our virtual world of 24/7 ... the ON part seems to be forever ON-going, yes?

yes, i think / feel, that most people are much more aware or 'conscious' especially with this world 'pandemic' seemingly without end .... just read somewhere that we (human species) never actually came out of the 1918 one .... and that it's simply a carry-on version of it ....

You, too, Twack, enjoy a 'splendiferous' week ahead ... 🙂🎉...

You know, I wouldn't mind having a crack at being a philosopher, just for a year. To be able to ponder some of life's bigger questions. Sigh.
Maybe start with ten minutes a day, pick a subject and delve in.
As we age, as a species, the links to the past become just words on a page (or screen). As each generation comes and ultimately 'goes' another section of time becomes 'unlinked' to the present day.
Now more than ever, we have the opportunity to create a legacy that can be accessed forever, sort of.
Yes, it's going to be a good week. Enjoy yours.😁

yes, for some years now, i'd been attending a weekly 'philosophy' session for 'thinkers' and it's been quite a ride ...

the host would play some video piece to launch the discussions ... and it would be thought-provoking on a lighter plane ... as the whole session was only booked for two hours at a stretch ....

well done...

so much can be done with 'like-minds' ... if you've got the video equipment, ie, big screen, tech computers to play, speakers, et al and enough room to house whatever number ... (well, i guess not these days) ...

anyway, lots of fun can be had with 'discussion groups!' ... perhaps this kind of activity may now be considered 'history.'

i think that's what they did back in the days of (plato, aristotle, socrates?) .... dialogue still needed, yes? ...

enjoy a 'philosophy' week .... :)

Yes, I think you're right. Whoever felt they had something to say would just up and start chatting, at least that's how the films depict them and who are we to argue with the movie industrie's historical consultants.
Quite a daunting scenario if you were the new kid on the block, taking the floor right after Socrates has said,
"I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing."
Tough crowd indeed.
I like the idea of your 'thinkers' group, some of our best 'thoughts' come after the catalyst of other's words have been spoken.
Ponder, ruminate and muse your week away.

.... wonder where the term 'soap box' came from ... someone standing on their soap box pontificating to the world as it were ....

.... yes, enjoy a splendiferous week! .... (just practicing with your big word, Twack ... hope it's ok?) ... lol ...

It's a 'yummy' word, therefore has plenty of juice left in it, thus can be used multiple times and then some.
I used to know the story of the soapbox but in this instance, I had to rely on Wikipedia, which gives a full and eye-opening version

You've done it again Keisha ...

The past has passed, and as a memory, is an illusion (it no longer exists) and can't be touched nor changed. The memory of the 'past' has value to offer for learning in the 'now'.

The future is a concept, useful for dreaming about and planning for, but is also an illusion because when it arrives it turns out to be now!

In terms of our thoughts, actions and outcomes there is only now. Everything happens in the now (dreams, planning, actions and outcomes etc).

Nothing ever happens in the past or the future ...

whenever something happens or happened, it is, or was, always in the 'now'.

So the only reality is now... this moment.

Do you agree with the logic so far? If you do, now it gets weird ... a bit of nonsense ...

Since the concept of the past has already passed, then every 'now' moment must be a 'beginning' whether it is new, or a repeat of something that has already happened.

On the other hand, since the concept of the future is an illusion, since it never comes, and we can only experience 'now', then the 'now' is the now and cannot be a beginning!

Anyway ...

At any moment I personally don't think in terms of 'changing' the future. I cannot change something that is not happening now.

I can only create, in the now, what (I hope) will lead to a future 'now' that I actually want.

Phew ... Do you see what I mean?

very interesting what you've written here, Richard .... kinda like a mind-twister! ... lol ....

well, i do enjoy discussions on philosophy as it brings to root ideas, and such before us ....

perhaps, i might share what i've just said to Fran ... to elucidate some thought on this topic:

* * * * * * * * *
"interesting that you got confirmation, indeed, of the 'nope, no going back!' ... things change and it's just never the same, is it? ...
.... wonder why that is? .... perhaps we're simply living a 'dynamic' life or perhaps all of life is dynamic? ....

.... anyway, a great big discussion can be had on this topic ...."

* * * * * * * * * *
ok for the NOW --

this is what i'd thought originally ... the past is past and is gone & DONE .... the future's not yet arrived, so it doesn't exist as yet ... so therefore, all we have is the NOW ...

and that's it for now .... lol .... i just realized what i just said ... gawd! ...

well, let's chat again tomorrow ... thanks! for your mind-boggling reply & commentary ... will likely need to re-read it again ...

Your summary... all we have is the now... Is exactly the point. Until someone invents a ’time machine’ we cannot be in the past nor the future; ergo we can only be in the now. We see, hear, feel, touch, smell, relax, take action, destroy and most importantly create all in the now.

hey hi Carson ... always a treasure trove of delight to see you! ...

appreciate your fun commentaries and yet this one that you've just provided ... so-o sounding very 'philosophical?' ... uhm ...

well, i didn't use the word 'e--d' as it makes people feel that everything indeed is 'finito'd' ... like totally done, like burnt toast! ...

it's a big journey that we're all on ... and it's ok to start anew when one needs to or feels like being refreshed to start a new beginning and why not? .... it's a very long journey that we're all traveling along ...

keep well, stay strong ... all the very best, cheerio ... :)
