An Orientation Program to the WA Platform?

Here at Wealthy Affiliate (WA), we are experiencing what we might call 'frosh week' just about every waking day with incoming New Starters & New Premiums.

From my own personal perspective, when I first stepped foot onto 'campus,' I found it to be a totally overwhelming experience in getting around the "University of Wealthy Affiliate." .... and quite frankly, still do some days! .... lol .... :O

Today's blog is being written in the hopes that the WA community will help identify what are the essential things that a new member needs to know about the WA platform to get better acquainted with all its buttons & icons, classrooms and to be able to work more effectively towards Success.

Why?

And why, you might ask is it an overwhelming experience? ... :)

Well, first of all, when a new member signs onto the WA Platform, we are welcomed like crazy by the amazing WA community -- the experience is very much like the 'buzz' experienced during first week of university or college or the beginning classes of any course where we are introducing ourselves to the many and the many are introducing themselves back to us.

Reciprocity at its best!

Getting Around the 'Campus'

Then, of course, we need to learn to get ourselves to classrooms around the campus & to meet the professors or instructors. This is quite similar to our need to find what and where everything is on the WA Platform.

A number of us have given our heads a shake in wonder & amazement of the multi-variate functions of the technologically advanced WA Platform -- gawd! ...

Wouldn't you agree that the WA Platform is incredible to use in helping all of us develop Success?

Every button & icon is multifaceted in its myriad of delightful active, live functions that are housed on the WA Platform.

Would you say that this platform, in reality, mimics the Internet?! ... yet, with all the different operating parts, it presents a comprehensive learning foundation for us to behold ...

All this incredible learning stretches out before us! ... and for all whom are familiar with tic-tac-toe ... take your pick!

Question for Everyone:

With frosh week upon us, we need to collate a priority list of what would be the top most helpful, essential 'things to know' for a newcomer to the WA Platform.

In your opinion, no matter 'newbie' or 'seasoned pro', what are the most important & vital 'must know' about the WA Platform / WA Community for a new member to gain a positive introduction in working to Success?

For instance:

1. the WA Platform itself -- what are the top 3 or 5 'must knows' here?

2. Spam -- what are the top 3 or 5 'must knows?'... how should the WA operating rules be best communicated? ...

3. In addition to OEC / Bootcamp programs -- what other vital 'classrooms' are needed to be accessed? ... if yes, what are they & how can they best be found?

Your insightful wisdom, valued experience, astute observations are all welcomed!

Kindly reply below with your helpful suggestions ....

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this post...:)

All the best to you for every success!

P.S. The impetus for this posting came about from by our beloved Kaju who suggested that I write this blog during a recent Q & A session ... *(actually, he gave me a 'practice boot' as he just started Bootcamp... imagine that--what a fellow... lol... enjoy!) ... always give credit where credit is due! ... cheerio ... :)

It would be helpful to have a listing of member's posts and trainings. There are so many. And also the trainings referenced in the blog discussions would be helpful.

thanks kindly for your reply -- so many, quite right! ... would you like to clarify which "trainings referenced in the blog discussions" .....an example or two would be helpful for us to understand better ... enjoy a good weekend, cheerio... :)

Trainings referenced in the blog discussions would be any link to someone's training of their own or or a link to WA training. Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks so kindly for all your replies to date . . . and as good fortune would have it -- one of our 'best teachers,' 'Professor Marion' (my nickname for her) sent me the newest & latest & most up-to-date training video called "Important Stuff!"

Enjoy a 'looksie' and let us know what you think! Frankly, it's the best 11.21 mins. time investment ever here and I wished it was available when I first started here at WA ... drum roll, please ... here's the start of the show:

I've found in my short time here that I've certainly been very overwhelmed by the thoughts that after all these years, I think that I have actually found something that I really do want to make a real go of and be it a huge part of my life. Almost like a first date that goes so well you just want it to grow and grow fast and sure. I have been consumed in reading so many posts, and profiles of success which I have, and am thoroughly enjoying. I have started on my training to the point that I'm about to put my first content on my website here. That again, I'm fully overwhelmed about.
I think in the main, all I can offer as a suggestion here is making new members aware of finding a balance. Between reading a great deal for inspiration, connecting with like minded people and starting to build a network of valuable persons, for gaining knowledge and experience, and equally, getting started on the training and taking action. For if we read and read and communicate and learn, but don't take action on the training, then we are almost definitely going to fail.
Great post .
Happy days :)
Dougie.

Feel the same way, too! ... appreciate your very thoughtful, fulsome expression and like your contribution to our discussion here on how to better a new member experience. . . please take a look at Marion's new training vid. that i just posted here as a share for our information & learning -- let us know of what you think -- enjoy, cheerio... :)

Hey Keishalina,
Just watched the video.
I thought it was very good. Very relaxed with lots of content but not too mind-blowing. I'll watch this video a couple more times because there were some good different pointers in there.
Thanks for the heads up on it.
Dougie :)

--- when you've got a minute, please kindly do let me know of any next steps we might take to help newcomers ease in better ... enjoy a wonderful weekend, cheerio... :)

I will do. I'll definitely get back to this.
:)

wonderful! ... :)

I have a conundrum, I wish I could contribute more in things related to WA but my learning curve is curved more than most!Your idea is a great one Keisha!

...it's all ok... :)

it's the Wealthy Affiliate (WA) Platform that we're referring to --- the WA screen that you see in front of you once you log-in onto this website to start your work ... the various icons under your Profile/Dashboard et al ... where & how to find things ... etc....

just trying to collate some ideas / suggestions for any improvements for ease of use, etc.... ?

appreciate your interest --- keep well, all the best ... :)

Thanks Keisha!

Good thinking. Thank you.

you're most welcome! ... cheerio... :)

What a great post I wish I had some ideas that you could use but I still don't know as much as I would like. I still feel like a newbie but

I have been here only 6 months myself. Still trying to find everything right now and learning how to answer questions here to help out everyone when I can.

I am sorry that I can't help this time around maybe next time.

Best wishes
Marmar

Appreciate you very much taking the time to read & comment... we're all 'newbies! ... there's always something new to learn ... enjoy a beautiful day, cheerio... :)

Thank you I appreciate your kind words and you are right we are all newbies in one way or another.

Best wishes
Marmar

Thank you for putting yourself out there and writing this plea. I have the same frustrations. I was really happy this morning when I opened my laptop and saw that Google has recognized my unfinished site. I know that doesn' mean much to the seasoned WA, but that was a goal and I reached it. WOW. I cannot help you much, but please let me know and I'll find someone who can. Best wishes, have some fun and cause joy.

Wonderful & congrats! ... keep being happy... thanks kindly for your reply---much appreciated... cheerio... :)

When someone takes the time to write to you, to help you, or encourage you, or welcome you, or even to congratulate you, ALWAYS leave them a like. They will usually do the same thing for you.
Also, be careful not to get too wrapped up in the ranking system. Work on the training FIRST!!
All the best,
Wendi

Wow--Wendi--WendaSue! -- thanks kindly for all your helpful suggestions -- hope others will get a chance to read what you've written for us... your time & consideration of thought are much appreciated... all the best, cheerio... :)

Be a do- er
Not just a talk er

walk the path

Your goal and purpose
