Dear Wealthy Affiliate members, still in search of that long-sought after niche to work on and to scale your biz to fruition?

How about a genius niche at work?

Well, being an avid reader, i came across a very interesting concept that may just perk your ears up to attention!

Are you familiar with Leonardo da Vinci?

He lived from 1452 to 1519 (67 years young) and is still considered the greatest painter of all time --- notably, the Mona Lisa (circa 1503 - 19) and the Last Supper (circa 1495 - 98).

Leonardo's sketch of the Vitruvian Man (circa 1490) has also become a uniquely recognizable icon.

I had the good fortune to have viewed his works during a visit to the Louvre in Paris and during one of his traveling exhibits this century.

Just incredible!

And in this short span of life, he perfected or at least was very well exercised as an: anatomist, architect, botanist, planner, designer, engineer, inventor, geographer, geologist, mathematician, military sciences, musician, painter, philosopher, physicist.

Truly a genius extraordinaire!

And his work continues to this day, in interest & in curiosity, by the world at large.

Well, where's that tip on finding and selecting that niche to work on?

Here we go . . .

Leonardo very well knew the importance of continuous learning, much alike of what a good number of us, as Wealthy Affiliate members, are doing --- Learning, and more learning, each and every day here!

According to Gelb, an author on da Vincian spirit, he stated: "Just as iron rusts from disuse, and stagnant water putrefies, or when cold turns to ice, so our intellect wastes unless it is kept in use."

OR in today's words: Use it or Lose it!

Herein lies the answer: or rather presented more as a question for you to answer:

What would you Learn if you could Learn anything at all?

Some of the most usual replies might be learning a new language or learning to play a musical instrument.

Leonardo self-taught himself Latin at the age of 44. This goes to show you that it's never too late to learn something new.

Learning this 'new something' that YOU have chosen to learn because of your high interest in it -- high enough to want to pursue it long enough to Master it.

For instance, some activities could be fitness or sports-related such as: scuba diving, snorkeling, paddle-boarding, sailing, rowing or skydiving even ... or learning the intricacies of the techniques in winning tennis or golf .... how about learning to draw, sketch, paint or sculpt or to write poetry or stories or novels ... or to study and practice yoga, meditation, or dance or martial arts .... and there are many, many sub-sets where you can further focus and re-define a winning niche to your passionate liking and to truly enjoy what you are doing day in and day out!

All of these 'special leisurely interests' might be thought of as 'dream' or 'best' hobbies and when an activity such as this is pursued passionately, invariably your life becomes Alive and is much more fulfilling leading, indeed, to a much richer LIFE.

And you can bring this niche to fruition here at Wealthy Affiliate in blogging and posting about it as you enjoy your activity all along the awesome journey to Success!

Now, does that make sense to you?

A Genius Niche at Work for YOU?

*** you're so very welcome ... enjoy the fabulous WA journey to Big Success! ... cheerio ... βοΈπŸ˜‰πŸŽ‰ ... ***

Genius niches growing IN us. It's hard for me to focus on one thing, or just one thing. But I must say that WA and you all here at WA, have taught me that I love writing and telling stories.

I also did see a travelling expo of Da, as in The Vinci's. In 1969, I was a senior in high school, and the travelling show was up at Colorado University, across town.

I love fine art, and beautiful design, and have spent days worth of hours in museums and exhibits.
I paint realistic fantasies. Takes much brain planning, then
very quick with the brushes,
I got the "architecture gene from grandfather, Yoshijiro. There is a permanent display of his work at Chicago Art Institute Library.

Keishalina, that was fun! Some of our past we don't think of, until a friend takes us on a shared journey.
Keishalina is the guide and we walk together up on Panorama hill,
seeing the same essence, Sunrise on Panorama hill, connecting to All Consciousness, then we jump back into now!

Suzay

hey hi Suzay!

Awesome! ... to have your "grandfather Yoshijiro's work on permanent display ... at (the) Chicago Art Institute Library."

If you truly enjoy the 'art world' -- then I'd encourage you to explore it further for yourself to enjoy and perhaps select one aspect that truly thrills YOU! ... Thrills you enough to work on for hours on end as you seem to enjoy design and can spend tons of time in museums and seeing exhibits .... how about setting up or organizing exhibits? .... anyway, just an idea ... surely you know yourself best and will choose what is best for you to work on ....

may the Sun shine brilliantly your way along the journey ....

keep well, stay happy, healthy & strong,

all the very best, cheerio ... :)

Thank you Keishalina, you are divine!

... βοΈπŸ˜‰πŸŽ΅πŸŽ‰ ... enjoy it all!

Your post is genius, Keisha. Using 'fruition' directly under the image of the fruit, classy.
We were talking about seeing 'masterpieces' in real life, last night and how amazingly realistic some of the great works are, almost like a photograph rather than a painting.
Didn't Leonardo Da Vinci design the helicopter or something close to?
I would like to 'speed read' and I guess that would be achievable, with practice, also it would allow me to consume so much more 'learning material' which seems to be stacking up.
Learning does require practice and that takes time, which there never seems to be enough of. (Although I can play a few instruments, I would love to be able to play the guitar or piano)

Hi Twack,

Leonardo did invent the helicopter in its most primordial form, which basically looks a three dimensionalized Archimedean spiral attached to a platform. He also designed many brutal weapons of war. They are carefully illustrated in his notebooks He was a very secretive man and wrote everything backwards as a mirror image.
I was in the β€œLDV Club” in the dept of mechanical engineering when I was a student at Brown. We hand-built models of some of his machines to prove they didn’t work. The reason was very simple. He purposely drew them with gears and other parts installed backwards so that nobody could steal his designs. 😊

If you already play other instruments then piano is a great compositional tool to tie them all together because of its musically linear design. The six string guitar in standard tuning has intervallic skips of perfect fourths and one major third, moving across the strings from low to high. So, choose wisely and have fun. 😏

Frank

*** Awesome! .... yes, the creation of 'masterpieces! ....

Happy you've enjoyed this post, YOU literary Genius! ...

and it looks like Frank, (who's both a musical and medical Genius) has a fulsome reply to your thoughtful queries ...

musings onward we Go!

as for Speed Reading, i learned of how to do this back in first year university and it did help me to get through many years of scholarly work ... lol .... it's actually skimming the text from top to bottom through the center line ... and taking notations where needed for studies .... versus going from left side to right side, line by line, in usual reading ....

and I'm also finding having a few different languages, we develop a knack of seeing things differently and in varied ways where our abstract reasoning capabilities are better utilized .....

enjoy it all, Twack ... sure go and select a new musical instrument to play on for better noggin health! .... remember the Beatles?! ... Ringo and Paul are still going strong well into their 80s?! ...

Super! ... have fun ... cheerio-o .... βοΈπŸ˜‰πŸŽ‰ ...

hi Frank!

Awesome reply for Twack!

Thanks so much for sharing your Genius! ... βοΈπŸ˜‰πŸŽ΅πŸŽ‰...

Hi Keisha,

I took an "Evelyn Woods" speed reading course many years ago. We were taught the center line technique that you mention. After that, I found it kind of wrecked my leisurely reading ability. Even today, it's hard for me to slow down, except when I read my guitar magazines (thank God!!).

Frank

I'm far from a genius, Keisha. I'm just a very curious guy. :-)

... some time ago, in a far away land .... a highly intelligent, thoughtful person once mused and said to me:

"what's the difference between the astronauts and the 'average person?' ...

guess what the answer was ... i'll let you know in the next reply ...

Curiosity

... yes, you get an A+ ... lol ....

and what is it about 'curiosity?' that drives one to Success? ...

It's like a super addicting drug, Keisha.
No hope for me, I guess :-)

well, the wise one's answer: ' curiosity drives one to 'learn' and it's the speedy capacity to learn, to grasp concepts, etc. that sets astronauts from the rest -- or so the saying goes! '

the Learning capacity in all living beings is amazing to start with, then, next comes the rapidity and the absorption rate comes next ... and then the eventual application of the learning ....

you know, you might be interested in checking out a 45 minute documentary -- Takaya -- the Lone Wolf ... google it and surely it will come up ... it was both heart-warming and heart-wrenching as it showed over a period of six years of how a wolf in the wild learned to adapt to marine conditions and 'survived & thrived!'

anyway, we can chat about it once you've had a chance to view ... would love to hear of your thoughts / opinion / feedback / reaction to the film .... the imagery is amazing ... and the story fascinating! ...

all the best.... :)

Hi Frank, thank you for such a robust comment and for supplying those priceless snippets of information. I must admit when it comes to having a broader understanding of many things, I come up short. I ran out time when I was in my reading stage, or just needed a 'story' to read rather than something more substantial.

I'm sure it comes down to practice but when it comes to getting both hands, which are directly in front of me, to do different things at the same time, I can't seem to get to grips with it. Now, when it comes to playing a woodwind instrument, in particular, the flute, where I am unable to see either hand and they are both facing in opposite directions it doesn't seem to be a problem, go figure.

All I have ever managed on the guitar were the first few chords of 'Space Oddity' by David Bowie and poorly at that

Too kindπŸ™
Yes, Frank went above and beyond and back again with his comment, I especially love the part about Leonardo Da Vinci writing backwards and deliberately drawing the plans with errors so as to spoil any espionage attempts, one might even venture that there was a degree of paranoia within.

I will investigate the 'speed reading' phenomena, as that has multiple positive ramifications, I am already excited by the thought, maybe I should invest my time in typing lessons, that would also save some time. Choices, choices and deliberations.

I envy (not in a green-eyed monster kind of way, more in admiration) your ability with having more than one language at your disposal, it's hard enough trying to master one. I wouldn't mind look more into the origin of words, that can be fascinating.

Much to muse and plenty to ponder.

... yes, interesting on the 'backwards' drawings ... perhaps he was 'dyslexic?' ... this is a recent diagnosis in modern life vs back in the days of the Renaissance ...

... Twack you too can pick up a new language or new anything (skill) that you set your heart on ... the only thing about picking up a new language as an adult is the willingness to 'babble like a baby' and practice the new sounds - vowels - consonants on a daily basis and in a few months, even in some cases, weeks, voila a new facility in a different language ... indeed, choosing a language with Latin roots may be somewhat easier to do than some other ones though ...

... know what you truly 'enjoy' love to learn and it becomes an activity of fun when time seems to stand still and is endless ....

... and with all your varied, exciting interests to choose from ... then, choose all of them, just do them one at a time to get to Mastery! ... :)

Thanks, Keisha, I'll put it on the list of movies for us to see. :-)

Hi Twack,

Thank You for your comments!

I enjoy information conveyed with audio and video more than reading. To me, it's a more immersive experience for the senses. No worries, we are all lifetime learners and the experiences you choose should be fun.

All instruments are wonderful to hear and play! The real key is the amount of enjoyment they give you, not how accomplished you are as a musician. Keep on playing whatever makes you happy! :-)

Frank

What we found, Keisha was that misinformation in his drawings was very intentional. Just the most important parts of devices were reversed or swapped for other pieces. So clever, really. Modifications meant to have the device operate on some level but not as truly intended. :-)

Herein lies the truth, couldn't agree more. Experimentation with sound, rather than learning theory was always my predilection. In recent times I have been fortunate enough to find 432MHz and a few other frequencies, this, in turn, led me to Estas Tonne which has only led to my love of the acoustic guitar to be amplified.

Thanks, Twack.

He did his anatomical drawings away from prying eyes. Human dissection was punishable by death. Talk about a desire to learn.

A lot of useless information just floating around in my head. :-)

Frank

Very welcome and thank you.

Twack, to me sound is everything. I typically tune to A 440 Hz but I used to detune, which lead to interesting sounding harmonic overtones (even more so than odd harmonics). You can digitally detune on the fly without ever changing the actual tension of the guitar strings by tweaking harmonizers, octave dividers, etc.
I know that there are also meditative reasons to do this but I've yet to go there.
Estas uses a fair amount of harmonics and percussive taps in his music, sort of like a classical-flamenco hybrid. Absolutely amazing music!
Very, very interesting stuff! :-)

Frank

Could be the case in reference to Leonardo.
I have never thought about 'babbling like a baby' to form the sounds but it makes so much sense.
I tried to learn Japanese a few years ago, stuck with it for a few months and then just stopped, not sure why.
So much to do and it's all enjoyable, I need to write a list and start working my way through it. Did you see Edwins 'chart' for the week's work? I liked that.
Dick Sutphen did a course on Mastery I think and so did Tony Robbins, I have both of them somewhere, the courses that is, not their personages.
Time to go, 'fuzzy time' is here. Thank you, Keisha, for it all.πŸ™

.... that's so fascinating, Frank ...."What we found . . . was that misinformation in his drawings was very intentional. Just the most important parts of devices were reversed or swapped for other pieces. So clever, really." ....

..... given the times & conditions of life he was living in ... he may have felt he needed to 'surreptitiously disguise' his genius in ways that we just can't fathom today .... it must have been so challenging for him to keep his brilliance to the light of a 10-watt bulb versus shining in radiance that only can be done in true freedom ...
... great study! ... :)

... as for languages, it's truly based upon the 'use it or lose it' phenomenon unless the language was encountered as a child before the age of five ... and then, recall is apparently automatic ...

... it's vital to 'keep exercised' ... i guess that's likely true of all things ... and keeping a structured schedule can be helpful for 'sticking with it!' ...

... it'll be interesting to see what you might choose as your 'ONE' to focus on to Mastery .... learn lots and enjoy! .... :)

I happened upon him by chance whilst searching through some 432 tracks, glad I did. As for the meditative side of things, now you can almost choose a frequency as there are so many and all with varied claims associated with them.
Personally, I stick with 432 and as long as I'm not distracted by the music, it feels as though it gives me extra clarity, though how much of that is psychosomatic I am not sure.

'Use it or lose it' is very true, it certainly helps if you are in an environment where the language can be spoken by others.
I shall let you know which direction I end up choosing, time for a 'pros and cons' list methinks.

... good idea on the 'pros and cons' and hopefully it'll help ...

sometimes, with so many choices, ideas can be swimming around upstairs in the head .... best to go inward, to your best inner self, your heart 🧑 and allow it to have a more weighted say in the choice you make ... and invariably, it will be the right one for YOU! ...
sure look forward to hearing of what you might decide on .. it's usually the 'first' instinctual one that is the correct one ... afterwards, it's too-o much thinking! ...

keep well, stay happy & healthy ... :)

All so very very true Keisha. I will have to empty my mind for a while and then drop back on it and see what pops up first, actually, I might set an alarm on the computer to go off sometime next week and when it takes me by surprise I will see which one pops up in my head, via my heart.
Taking action right now.

yes, perhaps let it be and allow it to percolate for a wee bit ... and also we're in a 'mercury retrograde' ... so perhaps it'll all become clear after November 3rd at the earliest ... and you have 100% of time! ... chuckles ... :)

best things take some time, kinda like herbs 'n spices in food ...let it simmer for the best taste and flavours! ....

Absolutely, I like the sound of that.
So, I take it we can add astrology to your extensive repertoire, 😲awesome.🧐

Thant's great!
Who cares if it's psychosomatic.
If it works for you then just go for it. :-)

... more like an 'astronomer' ... surely there are expert astrologers or is it astrologists who would be more than happy to assist ...

... yes, let it 'stew' for awhile ... like a super pot of Italian sauce! ...

Yes, be the Super Star in this cosmic world .... ⭐️ ....

Agree, just Go for it! ... lol ... :)

Exactly.

Good evening, good evening my dear friend, thank you so very much for this wide variety of food for thought. It is indeed nursing ,and very tasty. May your new week be all that you truly want it to be.

You are the best my dear friend, you are so very kind, thank you.

... happy you enjoyed it! .... all the best, cheerio ... :)

I also visited the Louve and saw some of the amazing works of DaVinci. It was an incredible experience and it made me truly appreciate the work of the masters.
You have a good point about keeping our brains active and learning new things.
Thank you for this excellent post.

hi Carrie ... lovely to meet you here today ... a follow is sure in order now ...

appreciate you popping by with your reply and glad to know you've enjoyed this post and found some helpful tips ...

and yes, i think we did the Louvre in 11 minutes flat! ... lol ... or maybe it was seven?! ... the crowds were too much ....

yes, the whole point is engage ourselves with what we might be interested in 'learning' and then, select the niche and publish blog posts along our journey to build our authority and to scale our online biz to fruition ... just a wee different spin on choosing a niche to work with ...

thanks kindly for reading,
