'Modern Websites' a workshop event I attended recently
So recently I went to a workshop in town all about 'modern websites.'
It was very interesting and the presenter was excellent - but what was really fantastic is that everything they covered in the hour and a half session were things I've learned about already at Wealthy Affiliate.
There was a huge amount of emphasis on SEO and here were the top five things the presenter said a modern website needed to consider (bearing in mind here that this was all websites, not just those for affiliate marketing);
- Keyword research (presenter showed a few techniques using google)
- Mobile responsiveness (over 75% of google searches are now performed on a mobile device)
- Quality content (the importance of updating content regularly)
- External links (that's the ones on other websites that link back to your site)
- Social links (Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin were sited as the top three, but best fit is determined by business type of course)
Interesting aye! It's great to know that the training we are receiving from WA is covering all these topics in depth and so much more. Today just reaffirms what I already knew - I'm in the right place to grow my online business!
One other thing that was covered was the importance of the information 'above the fold' on your website. What that means, is the stuff that people first see when they land on your website, BEFORE they have to scroll down the page to read more... is the most critical real estate on your website.

One thing is for sure, now that I've re-jigged everything, there's a whole load of content that doesn't flow correctly, so I need to go back and re-write a lot of my posts.

It does seem that WA covers everything....it's a daily workshop of information. But that face to face contact is always a good source of business. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Debbie, yes, there's nothing quite like face to face contact to really seal the deal. But that just makes this affiliate marketing business more of a challenge - winning trust and converting clients online is an awesome feeling. Cheers, Karen
Great post, Karen. I agree. We are really blessed to work on such a great platform. I came to the same conclusion the other day when I did a training course on SEO.
Interesting about the point about 'above the fold'. It makes sense.
