Guest Post Anyone?

Last Update: September 11, 2017

Hi there,

Recently I had the pleasure of connecting with Merry, a fellow WA member @MsMerry

We exchanged a few messages and got talking about the idea of doing a guest post on each others blogs. At first we thought it would be interesting to do an 'interview style' post, but then opted to pick a topic each and just go for it.

Here's the results of our efforts :-)

My article is entitled MidLife Crisis or MidLife Success and appears on Merry's site Girl Boss Marketing Co: https://girlbossmarketingco.co...

  1. Merry wrote an article entitled I have a Dream and I have Angels which appears on my site Paid Blog Jobs: http://paidblogjobs.com/motiva...

FYI: I decided to use the keyword 'motivational short stories about life' as a keyword in the title and introduction of the post and after one day, it is already being ranked in Yahoo.

Guest Posting with Merry was a great experience and a wonderful way to leverage our common purpose here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Guest posting is a technique worth mastering: It not only increases your exposure online, drives traffic back to your own website, it can also position you as an authority in your chosen niche. Plus it can be a lot of fun :-)

Interested? My website http://paidblogjobs.com still needs a bit of love, so if you are interested in the idea of guest posting, particularly about any of the 101 sites listed on my homepage please get in touch, I'd love to repeat the process again.

What do you reckon?

Cheers, Karen

Update as at 12/9/17:

After such a successful guest posting experience with Merry, I've decided to make this offer available to anyone who would like to contribute a guest post on my website http://paidblogjobs.com - especially if you are interested in writing about any of the 101 make money online websites listed on the home page.

As new guest posts are created, I will add them into this post below:

Feel free to contact me if you'd like to write a guest post :-)

IM LOOKING FOR GUEST BLOGGERS. I have a general website that has many ranking pages. DA 42 PA 38 on the homepage. I'm looking for people interested in writing quality posts with the opportunity to link back to their own site. Max of two do follow links with no less than 750 words. In some case I may add the topic to an already ranking page. If you are interested please message me with your topic. Thank you

I think this is a great idea. I've done a guest post on another RV site for a member here on WA and it was great fun.

That's a nice list, Karen. I've written for BlogMutt in the past and still have an active writer's account there.

Hey Laurie-ann, what plugin did you use on your site for your email sign ups? I really like the style of the email opt in form when I first visit your page as well as the small banner along the top of the header, that's exactly what I've been looking for. I'm going to sign up on yours :-) as I love cupcakes too!

I use mailerlite (it is free until you reach 1000 subscribers) mine will be free for a long time lol. I also use sumome plug in. I also just use the free version of that as well. My pop up is mailerlite and my subscribe banner at the top of my pages is sumome

You can PM me with directions if you want. Thanks.

It's worth bearing in mind that reciprocal guest posting can now be viewed as a spam signal by search engines.

"The following are examples of link schemes which can negatively impact a site's ranking in search results:

Buying or selling links that pass PageRank. This includes exchanging money for links, or posts that contain links;

exchanging goods or services for links; or sending someone a “free” product in exchange for them writing about it and including a link

Link exchanges ("Link to me and I'll link to you")

Large-scale article marketing or guest posting campaigns with keyword-rich anchor text links

Using automated programs or services to create links to your site"

Yes, that is true Richard. I believe I read something on this awhile back and it was pointed more at the larger sites doing all this automated 'stuff' (link to me-link to you)on a large scale. I don't see guest posting a problem unless you are breaking the rules. And then again, maybe I am being naive with my trusting nature. Anyway, thanks for alerting us, it is appreciated.

@RICH. Premium
It's not guest posting per se, where you post only one way, but reciprocal guest posting, where you end up with the link-to-me-link-to-you scenario that is the spam signal.
Reply
kdforsman Premium
I don't think we need to worry to much about this Merry, as the site you linked to in your article is different to the site I placed your guest post on. So it wasn't a straight link swap. Cheers, Karen

Yes, thanks, Karen I do agree. Guest posting can be very advantageous when done the right way with the right intentions.

It was a great experience Karen, thank you. I have more to learn when it comes to guest posting. I used mid-life-crisis as the keyword for your post as the ranking was pretty good for that...... Currently in the #2 position on google.

I know this has been practiced by others on the internet and they may have benefited from it. Why not try everything we know that is good and we will have good things which come from us to share with others.

I will reach out once I get settled in the school year. September is a rough month.

I can definitely write something decent about Hubpages since I still get commissions from them every month. I also have experience with Textbroker and Constant Content.

I still want to finish the training here so I have some credibility and a functioning website when I guest post. So much to do yet, but looking ahead I can help you out with the guest posts.

I like your blog and the concept a lot. It's very organized. and visually easy to look at.

Good Morning Karen,

My before last post is Guest Writers-the Story.
Yesterday Valerie Joy had a post Beware of Rules about Guest Blogging.
Perhaps you care to have a look. I will save your post as it has a lot of good information. Personally, I am all for it.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Thanks I'll definitely check that out :-)

Hi again, I've read Valerie's post now and I totally agree with what she has written. A guest post is not about adding in affiliate links from the guest post author, but a link back to their own website is perfectly fine and to be expected.(IMHO) :-)

ps. my article is not about affiliate marketing at all, and Merry's touches on it only lightly.

Karen, I'm bookmarking your post as I can't check out your website now (getting ready for my 'day' job). But I shall definitely have a look.
I'm part of a recently formed group of WA members who want to guest write for each other, but some have concerns as to whether this may have a negative impact on the ranking of our websites.
There's also the concern that, of crediting a guest writer to your website, you may end up loosing revenue by encouraging visitors to use somebody else's website.
How do you feel about all these issues?

Giulia

Hi Giulia, I believe these are all very valid points and it was certainly something we considered when we talked about doing this. However, the paidblogjobs.com site I'm going to use for any guest posts is not my main WA bootcamp site, and I think it would work if the respective niches of both sites are complementary. With any guest posting I guess there's a risk, but the benefits of increased exposure and driving traffic probably outweigh this if done right. My random thoughts only! Cheers, Karen

Great job, both of you!

You probably planted the seed - but we adopted it as our own idea LOL
Reply
MsMerry Premium
Thanks, Mickey and yes, you probably did plant that seed. It's funny how when you have an idea someone else usually has the same one, and then it is born. :)
Reply
MsMerry Premium
So we did!! LoL! I love how we are both ranking very high in yahoo and google with our respective guest posts!! It is certainly an experience to learn from doing this.

Yes it was an interesting process - especially coming up with topics that complemented each other's websites. But definitely worth it.
