Pottery Class

There is a story one of my art teachers shared about a Pottery teacher who divided his class up into two groups. The first group was given an assignment to produce one piece of real quality work and turn that in.

The other group was given the assignment to produce as much work as possible and turn all of their work in.

The first group was judged and graded on the quality of their work and the second group was graded and judged on the weight of their work.

The group that produced the overall best work was the group that produced alot of pottery.

I take this story as something that can be used in every aspect of our lives.

We can keep learning and obtaining knowledge as well as continue to produce and not waiting to make just one perfect piece. Sometimes our work might not be great, but the more we do the better our product and brand will be.

Best wishes!

Kelly, I've been going through your blog and this blog really inspired with me. I have been one that is trying to make my site perfect, and haven't posted much, so I'm looking at this from another angle today thanks to you. Thank you so much. Linda

Oh, I'm so glad I could be helpful! I have a child in art class that has had a hard time turning things in because he is somewhat of a perfectionist. I had to tell him this story. He has been turning things in now. :) And, despite what he thinks, he is a really good artist!
You know, we all learn things a little bit at a time. It's not all at once. Gotta learn to crawl before we walk, and walk before we run. But, I love that as we learn we can continue to share what we've learned and our knowledge with others to help them learn and grow.
I'm so glad that I could help :)

Keep up the great work!!

I'd love to see your website. Would you please PM it to me?

Thanks for sharing, this is a great analogy.
Blessings,

Thanks for sharing, Kelly'O.

Nice story Kelly'O. Thanks for sharing

love this story and analogy! I just thought of this one myself this morning as I was feeling that my latest post wasn't the greatest. Had to remind myself that the most pots wins!

Ya, I’ve been in a bit of a funk the last couple of weeks. I’ve known what I wanted to write but thought it needed to be perfect. Then my art teacher shared this and I knew he was right. After pondering this for a little while, it’s been better :)

Very interesting way to illustrate the point, thank you!

You’re very welcome :)

You can't make a perfect piece of art the first time.

Nope, it takes lots of practice. :)

Enjoyed reading your post thank you for sharing.

You’re welcome! Thanks for reading :)

:-)

So true...
Exercice is the best master

You bet!

I love this analogy! Thanks for sharing this story.

Thank you and you’re welcome :)
