Changing post dates

I have a lot of draft posts which I update when I feel like.

I have also updated old posts and find that the updated posts have not moved position.

I have now found a way to adjust the dates in my theme. 'Revise publishing date'

Changing the date has moved my recently updated posts to the top.

I'm thinking maybe in future to delete the post and start again especially if the post hasn't got much in it and just a heading and some thoughts.

Is this the best thing to do?

Does it have negative effect on the website?

Thanks for reading and commenting.

If the post is a draft that hasn't been published it's fine to delete them, but occasionally you can run into a problem if you try to create a post with the same url.

Oh really!
Then it's best to keep the draft, update and change publishing date.
Thanks for your contribution.
