Do Amazon Native Ads Slow Down Your Website?

Hey WA family,

Got a question for those who use Amazon Native Ads on their websites...

Do they slow down websites!?

I decided to give it a try last night and added a few to a couple of posts and I noticed that:

1) Site speed decreased (significantly, in my opinion). And a few days ago I even changed my WP theme to increase my site speed.

2) The font has been strange - it become bold in some paragraphs, where it's supposed to be normal, and I can't even change it back.

Just did a small test.

Removed Native ads from one of my posts - font is back to normal, site speed seems to be the same...

Just would like to hear your experiences.

Thank you in advance!!

good concept you raise there. I suppose a lot of these linked third party companies require us to insert a code.
From my amateur knowledge, and sort of first hand experience with coding, I had noticed how much formatting and appearance can 'drastically change'

BY the way I'm inspired by this topic.

I have used them and had no problems.

is there an Ebay Native ads?

Not sure, I never used Ebay's affiliate program

I have had them below my content area for over a month now and haven't noticed any problems.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

If the ads are below the fold then the slow-down (if any) will not be noticed by your readers.

I am afraid I didn't understand you Marion, what do you mean by "ads below the fold"?

The fold is the bottom of the visible area when you open a browser. Above the fold is what you see when you first visit a website. Below the fold is what you see when you scroll down the page.

It originally referred to the top half of a newspaper when it was folded.

Ahhhh, I see, thank you! Well above the fold is where I write intros anyway, so my ads are below the fold. So I guess it's fine to use them?

I do. But, like you, I make sure they appear below the fold :)

I use the Amazon native ads a lot and I haven't noticed any slow page loads because of them. But, maybe, it's "theme dependent"...

Jim

thanks!
