Three things you can do to improve your life right now

Life does not get better by chance, its gets better by change. ~ Jim Rohn

Many of us want to improve our lives. We take courses, read books, read blog posts, you name it. Most of us have tried something to make our lives better.

But really, I believe that improving your life boils down to three things. I will get to those in just a moment.

First I wanted to address the above quote by Jim Rohn because it does deal directly with the three things that are essential in improving your life.

Rohn was known as a self-improvement guru. He could tell you about ways to make your life better. The thing was, you had to take action. Because: Life does not get better by chance, but by change—which to me translates into action.

Without action, nothing happens. I have this little saying that inspires me every day at work. It is a quote from the book of the Bible and says, "Walk by faith."

This is not meant to be a religious statement, simply a fact. The phrase doesn't say "sit still by faith." It says "walk by faith."

Walking is an action which requires change. You have to move and that is a change from sitting still.

The faith part is up to you and your interpretation.

For me, walking by faith, is as simple as getting up from the hypothetical couch and taking a step toward fulfilling my dreams and goals. I do only have 360 days before my planned retirement, so I have to take a lot of steps of faith in those days!

If you have read my posts in the past, you know that I am an admitted procrastinator. In order for me to reach my goal of early retirement, though, I am going to have to work hard on my blogs to make them all as prosperous as possible to allow me to retire from my day job!

So, what are those three things that you MUST do to improve your life today?

1. Change

That change could be as simple as changing your mindset about something or as difficult as changing a job or adopting or having a child.

Without change, the car with the flat tire just sits (unless you want to ruin the rim by driving on it).

Without change, we do not improve. We do not move forward or fall backward. We simply sit.

2. Action

Take action. Take a step of faith. That might mean starting a blog. That might mean moving across the country or across the world. (See how change and action tie together?) Taking action could mean a number of things. But "walk in faith."

I have sat still for a long time and I am finally moving again. Sometimes times of inaction are okay, too, but don't let them take over your life.

3. Satisfaction

I know this one might seem a little strange given the other two MUSTS, but I believe that satisfaction is also a necessity to improving your life.

If we are never satisfied with ourselves and our lives, we will constantly be on a wild ride that goes around and around and around and takes us no where.

Having a sense of satisfaction with our lives—with what we have accomplished so far and what we have yet to accomplish—can improve our lives in immeasurable ways. It can make us feel better because we know that there is more ahead.

Take steps of enjoying satisfaction along your journey wherever that may lead you.

Tying it all up

Okay, so maybe these are not so simple, but I know that they are all things we can do this very day that will help us in the long run to meet or even exceed our goals and dreams.

Like with nearly anything in our lives, take them slow. Remember, Rome was not built in a day and our dream lives will not be built in one day, either.

However, taking these three steps today can help you improve your life for good and who doesn't want that?

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Sometimes taking baby steps are ok, then there is a time when you have to run for what you want. You can sit on the sideline and watch others run right past you. SO its time for me to get up and at least get in the game. THANK YOU!

Great thoughts. I am jumping in to the race!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Hey Karin:
Jim Rohn? He is the man! Great depth & revelatory insight. He is A-1. A driver without the pain of driving. I'd call his teachings upper division, therefore not for everyone. There is a dramatic learning curve with the implementation / belief systems. I mean Pete stepped out of the boat during a storm to walk on the swelling water because he'd gone through something of the learning curve via his mentor -yes?
.
Retirement? So what are you "retire-ing" from? Can the word & realize that you are simply moving on & into greater things. Like WA & helping the marketing system within the world. And lots more time for people. Lots more time.
Change of mindset -yes?
.
Your words here give lots to think on. Thank you for them.
"our dream lives", as I see, is to be a way of life. A way of life that each day brings us closer to that dream. Closer to that dream we desire for to live. That dream life-style.
And time should be "the" resistance we push against & control / manage.

Your reply has given me lots to think on! I love the moving on into greater things instead of retirement connection! Much better since that is exactly what my intentions are!

Glad you commented! I love Jim Rohn's teaching! Time to take a walk on the water!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Excellent.
Life is too short to waste in / spend on the doubt.
Go for it, you tiger you!

Thanks! To you, as well!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Great post;

I particularly like the part about being satisfied.

Sometimes in the self-improvement arena, we fail to stop and smell the roses. We can always do better, always achieve more, always work harder because there is always more that you could have done.

If we are always living in the tomorrow - we will never live in the day.

It is important to realize what you have today - and enjoy it. Likely, it will be something you lose some time in the future.

Dave.

Thank you for your thoughts! They clarify things. Love it!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Hi Karin,

Thank you for a very valuable message. I can directly relate to the take action bit. In my early career I changed jobs three times. But it went further.

The first change occurred by leaving England for new opportunities in Canada. The next time I moved to California. These changes made a huge impact on my life compared to what would have happened if I stayed in one place.

I am not advocating that others need to do what I did. Each of us has our own action plans to follow and most will not involve changing countries!

All the best in your actions toward retirement.

Edwin

Edwin, it is so nice to hear from you and about some BIG changes you made that impacted your life. It is good that you can see how these changes were right for you.

Best wishes,

This was a great post, Karin. I think the part about satisfaction hit me the most. From what I've learned about the law of attraction, what you think about is what you get. So if you are satisfied or happy, you'll get more of the same because that is what you focus on. Love it! Thanks for the thoughts.. :)

Paula

Thank you, Paula. I am glad you liked the post. I think being satisfied and happy certainly does bring more of it! :)

Best wishes,
Karin 😁
