Why? Because stories are important.
We have told stories since the beginning of time. The "cavemen" etched their stories in the rock walls. Stories were printed. Stories were made into movies. Stories were told.
Today, our stories continue to be told and continue to make a difference in the lives of those who hear the story.
Our lives change when we hear the stories of others
The great thing about stories is that we can hear them as well as tell them. I can't tell you how many times I have had my heart moved or my mind changed by a good story.
You know what I'm talking about, right? Those stories that resonate with you when you hear them. They are the stories that move us to take action in some way.
Just like that story that made you cry when you watched it or heard it.
Just like that story that made you laugh.
Stories are told for a multitude of purposes
One of the reasons we tell stories on our websites is to gain the trust of our readers. We need that trust so that we can hopefully gain not only their loyalty, but also, with hope, some sales from our sites.
If we tell a good enough story, we may get both of those things.
Our job is to tell a story that is factual and engaging. When we do a good job of that, we build our reputation as an authority.
I love to tell a good story. I suspect many of you do, as well.

The stories of our lives are as diversified as each individual, and are equally as interesting. From cave art through the internet, mankind has always had a mind to leave a message to enrich and enlighten those who will take the time to read and learn. Good post today Karin.

Karin, such a good post this morning. Yes we live our stories everyday. we don't always make notes and the memory starts erasing almost immediately. And you are so right. Those relative anecdotes we can use in our blogs to give them an air of truth which can, in turn, build our reputations.
Thank you, Barb! Our stories can change the world. I have little scraps of paper everywhere with little notes and ideas and snippets of thoughts. Why? My memory is very short!
I tell my stories because I figure if they can help someone, then I have done what I was meant to do.

Totally agree. Telling stories is about engaging people and for our friends and family it allows them to get to know us better, to help us or to help them. For our blog it allows us to give a part of ourselves, of our way of seeing the products that we want to sell, to give them a point of view which allows our readers to form an opinion. Dialogue, whether virtual or real, is important in helping others or oneself to move forward in life.
