Stop planning—Start acting

There’s something safe and comforting about the planning process, isn’t there? This happens to our ambitions all the time. The last step in this process is to stop all the planning already. Book the flight. Buy the ring. Host the first meeting in your living room. Whatever it is, stop hovering 10 feet above your dream. You’re going to need to pitch forward a little bit more and get your wheels on the ground. -from Bob Goff's Dream Big

It is time to stop planning and time to start doing. Time to stop dreaming and time to start working.

I have been planning my work for years, but now is the time to stop doing that and actually begin.

Well, that's not exactly true. I have been working, just not on my plans,

I know I am not alone in this. It is a universal problem. For whatever reason, we often make the choice to work on other people's plans instead of our own.

Not everyone has a dream to own and operate their own business. There is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when we do have that desire and all we do is make plans and never act.

I am guilty. But I am changing that.

If you have read my last post: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/karin13/blog/the-good-the-be..., you will know that my spouse is giving me the ultimate gift for Christmas this year. It is a gift of sacrifice and one that I do not intend to squander.

Being able to work full-time on my business—on my dream of a life-time, I am super-excited.

Remember that things can change in an instant. Have your plans in place and ready so when the time comes, you are ready to take action!

Best Wishes,
Karin

Insightful and good to read, Karin. Just thinking and not doing is what ails most of us (for many the fear of failure and the unknown is a great wall to overcome). My takeaway is this: Not everyone has a dream to own and operate their own business. There is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when we do have that desire and all we do is make plans and never act.

Great actionable advice- lets all succeed in our business journeys online

Thanks for your comments, Christorv. Many of us spend a lot of time thinking and little time doing... Fear has held me and many others back... Let's knock those walls down!

You got the gist of the post perfectly!

Best wishes,
Karin

Karin, you are so right! It's time to act and I thank you for that kick in my complacency! :)

You are welcome! I hope it keeps us moving!

Best Wishes,
Karin 😎

There’s a old saying “action speaks louder than words” thank you for sharing

Actions on the way! You are welcome. Hope you are doing well!

Karin

Really well thank you for asking.

Glad to hear it. Hope you have a great week!

Hi Karin,
the planning stages can start to feel comfortable. It takes a little courage to step out of the comfort area and into the action . The action that you've been planning for. But after that first step you'll feel so energetic and actually delighted to be in the action.
It's not quite the same when I plan for a concert but it is a little bit. I select the music and work on it every day. Learning it, working on certain passages that I can't quite get the feel for, timing the whole thing. As the date for the program grows closer,I get real comfortable with the music and kind of hate do the program.
But performing a good program and having people enjoy listening is worth every effort.
You'll do great.

Hi Barb. I would love to hear one of your concerts. I love music. Planning is planning. Preparation is preparation. Anxiety is anxiety. Although each thing is slightly different and has its own mastery, I hope that my "performances" will be as enjoyable as your concerts must be to those who hear them!

I still have to set my goals, but I have been working on that in a MasterClass I have been taking for the past three months. We are working on SMART goals. There are a lot of ways I can go with this, but I think I have two decent starter goals for the next six months.

Hoping you are having a great week!
Karin

One thing Karin I would add to planning for your future is also to do what I call scenario planning. That being that you do a plan for different situations that could occur.
Hugh

Thank you for the advice, Hugh! I will certainly put that into my plans.

Karin

Most welcome Karin
