There will be blind alleys and one-night wonders and soul-crushing jobs and wake-up calls and crises of confidence and moments of transcendence when you are walking down the street and someone will thank you for telling your story because it resonated with their own. ~ Lin-Manuel MirandaI have written on this subject of stories before:https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/karin13/blog/why-it-is-impor...https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/karin13/blog/its-all-about-t...Why? A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better. ~ Jim RohnI noticed the other day that I had 4005 followers. I marveled at that number because that's a lot of people. I am sure that many are not following me closely, maybe just a few. But the reality is, 4005 people decided to add me to their network. Some have become friends. Others have become mentors as well as friends. In the true sense of the word, a fo

This morning I woke up singing a song that I knew from my childhood. I don't know who sang it, but it was on a country Christmas album that my parents had.The soulful sounds of singing about the longing for that piece of Christmas joy in July. I can hear the singing in my ears and I woke up wanting that candy!I can almost taste the candy cane...I didn't know that Christmas in July was a thing until this morning when I attempted to look up the lyrics to the song, "A Piece of Christmas Candy In

When I was a kid and I wanted something I would ask my parents. They would tell me that I had to work for it. I would whine about it because the neighbor kids just got stuff given to them. The neighbors had money. We didn't. We were a fairly poor farm family. We all worked hard from my dad and mom, to me, my little brother and my little sister. We all had our jobs to do.My parents were the type that would say, "If you want a car, earn the money. When I was a kid we had to walk to school 10 mile

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. ~ ConfuciusIf you follow your passion, you'll never work a day in your life. ~ Tony BennettThe words may be slightly different, but the sentiment is the same, if you find something you love to do, you will never work a day in your life. These words have been quoted in different forms throughout the ages. Why do you suppose that is?In my opinion, it is because it is true. When something is true, it gets repeated and beli

Strangers complained about the stench, but the locals liked to brag that it was the sweet smell of money. ~ Author: Donald Ray PollockI cover a lot of meetings for my "day job." One of my "beats" is for the county commissioners. I have been covering their meetings for nearly 20 years now. (I feel really old admitting that!)One day the city that the meetings are held in was particularly odorous. That city has two major meat processing plants, an animal rendering plant and an egg plant. Most of the successful people I've known are the ones who do more listening than talking. ~ Bernard BaruchWhen I was a kid, I liked to do what I wanted, when I wanted and if I wanted. I would throw tantrums and make a big fuss if I didn't want to do something. But the bottom line was if my mom or dad said I was going to do something, you better believe I was going to do it—tantrum or not!The same was true if I wanted to do something which my parents didn't want me to do.ListeningListening

I just wanted to give a shout out to all my Canada Wealthy Affiliate brothers and sisters on July 1, Canada Day.I didn't know what Canada Day meant, so I looked it up. This is what Wikipedia says about Canada Day. "A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of July 1, 1867, the effective date of the Constitution Act, 1867 (then called the British North America Act, 1867), which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a si

There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up. ~ John HolmesAhhh, the exercise of helping people. When we build our businesses, why are we doing it?If your answer is strictly to make money, then you may be in the wrong business. If all you want to do is to make money, you can get a job doing practically anything to make money. But if you want to make a difference, add value to the world, then you might consider helping other people solve their problems. That

You know that little airplane at the top of the dashboard? Yes, that one. Mine always says 300. That makes me a little sad. I would like to see it move... I have had a few referrals, but none of them are serious about this business, so they don't join Wealthy Affiliate. Not a good salespersonTruthfully, I have never been a very good salesperson. When I was a representative for a certain health related MLM, the only time I ever sold anything was through my own use of the product and showing the p
