Sharing what I do—daily, weekly, monthly

When I first started writing websites close to 20 years ago (no way!), I didn't have the idea of helping people, I just wanted a way to promote the newspaper that I worked at. Back then I did a lot of code writing. It was not easy and I didn't do it very well.

Fortunately, What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) was born and I didn't have to write code unless I really, really wanted to. Now there are so many WYSIWYG programs out there that many people don't even know what I'm talking about!

I didn't write keyword rich posts (I still don't for the newspaper. We write what we write for the physical print edition and post those articles).

Now that I am focusing more on helping people through my website(s), I am beginning to really latch onto the need for keywords so people can find what they are looking for! I'm not an expert by any means, but I am working on learning how to effectively use keywords.

Another thing I started doing was following a list of things that I do (or try my absolute hardest to do) each day, week and month here at Wealthy Affiliate. I am sharing this list because I am hoping maybe it will help you to focus yourself for the time you can spend here at WA. It is a mixture of things for my actual website along with things I do on WA to connect with the community.

There are other things I do, as well, but this list keeps me focusing on the things I know I want to accomplish each day, week or month.

Here's the list if anyone would like to check it out.

Daily

—Write a 1000 word post at least 3x a week (my original plan was to try to write 1000 words per day, but I am a realist and as long as I am still working my 9-5 I can only do so much in the evening)
—Ask for comments on EVERY new post
—Share all new posts on Facebook and Google+
—Give 3 comments (minimum) on other sites
—Follow at least 5 new people daily on WA
—Follow 2 people per day on Google+
—Approve new site comments
—Write WA Blog
—Do Training (sometimes a training session will take me a few days to complete)

Weekly

—Give at least 2 feedback
—Ask for feedback on my site
—Follow suggestions that are appropriate
—Do new keyword searches

Monthly

—Add appropriate affiliate marketing
—Make a training video or powerpoint (I haven't made a training yet, but I have a few topics in mind)

This is just what I am trying to do. I love checklists and checking things off the list, so I print 7 of these each week and check off the daily things as I do them and the weekly. I haven't done any in monthly yet as I have only been with WA for about a month, but I am looking forward to when I can start checking those off monthly.

I hope these suggestions help anyone who is new and maybe needs a way to focus.

I'm also open to suggestions if you have something that would be appropriate to add to my list. Feel free to post them in the comments!

Thanks, Debbie. It hope it helps someone out.

Happy days!

Karin

thank you for sharing :) special the first one: writing 1k- words post three times for a week.... since that's your 20-years experience of writing for your newspaper. I should learn more from you about this one :)

I plan on doing a training on writing tips coming up soon, Thong. I am hoping it will help some people who may struggle with what/how to write.

Happy Days!

Karin

Thanks for your post, and carry on as you are doing. You have got this!

Aren't lists just awesome! I have used them since I was in high school. I don't know what I'd do without a list! LOL

Have a great day!
