Lessons from The Matrix Part 12 Most people aren't ready to be unplugged
This lesson from the movie The Matrix may seem like a bit of a stretch. But stay with me long enough and I think it will make sense.
When we are a part of a system it is hard to break free of it. Neo realized it once he understood that there was no way to go back into the Matrix and live as if he knew no longer knew the truth.
Believe it or not, we are all a part of a system or even part of many systems. Some systems are better than others, but they are all systems. It is the systems of control that can damage us—perhaps not physically, but emotionally.
In order for our world to function, it has to have systems or rules in place that allow it to operate.
Even the "real world" in the movie had systems of control so that it could exist.
The fact remains that some of us are not ready to "unplug" from the "system" of a regular job. Yet.
At this time, I am not ready to give up the security—real or implied—that a 9-5 job entails
I like knowing that every week I will receive about the same amount of money that can be used to pay bills, put away for a rainy day or whatever.
I want to unplug from the 9-5 job, but I admit that I need it and therefore that is one system that I am currently not able to break free from.
But many of us see Wealthy Affiliate as a way to break that particular system of control. I know I do. I may have to work hard and long to get my income from WA to support me, but I am willing to put in the time and effort.
Why? Because I know that the end result will be unplugging from the control of having how my day is spent dictated by someone else. No longer will I then be subject to the authority of a "boss."
Well, I will still be somewhat subject to a boss—me!
I was reading a few posts on WA today and was intrigued by what Littlemama had to say in her recent post https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/littlemama/blog/my-online-bi....
I really encourage you to read her post because she talks about things that many of us go through in our blogging life. She wrote about some ups and downs and good and bad ways to handle the downs.
When you find that you are ready to "unplug" make sure you have a new "system" to rely on. I would say that WA is a great system for that very thing!

Just like many are not ready to unplug from what is known, many more don't want to for fear of plugging into something the same as what is known already.
Managing the transition can be one of the best approaches that we can develop.
WA is definitely, a system that can be used to create new moving forward.

I unplugged from the 9-5 quite a few years ago. It feels wonderful, I would never go back.

That's great, Mickey. I have about 10 and a half months for my plan to retire from the "day" job to come to fruition... I have a lot to do!

Great post full of truth!
We need security and believe me, you are no exception to the rule. Then we may also want to keep our job because we love what we do. I will never stop doing my therapies with children even if I earn a very good income on the internet.
It is important that we are in serenity, to stay on a good balance in our lives. If work is a pain and it is important for us to stop, then we must do everything to get out of this situation. But if for you or for me and for others to keep our job is important let us keep it. When we earn a very good income on the internet we could perhaps make the choice to work less but completely stop our activity of employee it depends on our desires.
