You will never be free until you free yourself from the prison of your own false thoughts. ~ Philip Arnold

Before Neo (in the movie The Matrix) could do any of the things that he could do, he had to free his mind. The same holds true for us—our minds can block us from moving forward.

I like the quote above because it perfectly illustrates the point...our false thoughts keep us from being free.

Some false thinking we might hold includes:

  • Blogging will never work
  • I can't make any money doing this
  • This is stupid
  • I can't do it
  • I will never fly

We weave these tapestries in our minds of what reality isn't. The perfect world does not exist. There is no hope. All that remains is gloom, doom and despair.

Instead of seeing possibilities, we see only the impossible.

Instead of believing we can fly, we hope the ground doesn't kill us when we fall.

We walk into the fight already defeated because we don't believe we can win.

The truth is, we can be free from the prison that binds us. We can do not only the possible, but the impossible, as well.

There are total belief systems built on the idea that what we believe can happen will happen. The gurus who proclaim this ideal make millions of dollars a year because they offer hope to the hopeless.

This isn't a false reality that I am talking about. Once your mind is free of the bars that hold you back, you can see the possible. Because of the change in your mind even if you do get defeated by something you will not give up because you will believe in yourself and try again and again.

I've written a few product reviews. One item was clicked on and purchased and I made about 35 cents.

I was thrilled! Because my belief is now I know that people read the product reviews and they actually click a link and buy something. So what if I only get 35 cents? My belief system was reinforced because my site—my review—made sense to someone and they bought one of the items I invited them to buy.

Is 35 cents going to change my life? Probably not. But, that sale, that single solitary sale, changed my mind!

My mind was freed in that moment. I saw possibility! I saw hope!

Can I fly? You bet I can! I can soar over the highest obstacles and destroy them because I believe I can.

What do you believe? Is something holding you back? release yourself from the prison, the bars and chains that are holding you back.

Best wishes,
Karin :)

Karin,
This post really hit home. Coming into a new relationship was difficult for me. I was trapped by a few skeletons in my closet. Nothing horrible mind you, but a few things that would be a hindrance. Together with my bride to be, I opened that closet and swept away those skeletons. My false thoughts are dealt with and gone. Our new life together has been and will continue to be enriched. Thank you for writing this.

Greg

You're welcome, Greg. I am glad you were able to get rid of those "skeletons!"

I wish you and your bride to be a very happy life together!

Best wishes,
Karin 😎

I love this post. So true. I watched Matrix again for the first time in years last week. There are certainly lessons in the movie that we can apply to our lives. I will have to check out the other posts that you have written in this series.

Happy New Year

Thanks, Sondra. Glad you liked the post. I hope you enjoy the other posts, as well.

Best wishes,
Karin 😎

It is true but a great way to remove these obstacles is through therapy in which one recalls them and they will get wiped out .

Good point. I attempt to be my own therapist, but that doesn't always work...

Best wishes,
Karin 😎

No that does not work- I am a therapist ,I have delivered to several people , and I have seen the results.

Our personal beliefs about ourselves hold us back. We have to training our minds to open up to believe in possibilities.

Neo learn his mind was holding him back. When he opened up, he became stronger.

Neo is definitely one of my heroes. Through freeing his mind he became the "one." We can, too!

Best wishes,
Karin 😎
