Keeping first things first

You might be asking what the apple has to do with the title of this blog post. Well, I chose this image because it is important to remember that keeping up with our health is an important thing.

If you've read my profile, you know that I struggle with type 2 diabetes. It has been fairly uncontrolled by any medication for the past two years. Yesterday I begin insulin.

I am a BIG baby when it comes to needles. It took me months before I could even prick my finger to do my necessary blood tests. Even though my doctor had been recommending insulin for several years now, I put it off because of my terror of needles.

I'm at the point now that I have no choice, so I began the insulin shots last night.

I know that my health is first and foremost because without my health in check, I can't do much of anything else.

I am going to be moving my diabetes focused website to WA soon, because I really love the hosting and easy to use format and tools through WA.

Just remember we need to take care of ourselves as well as our websites. One won't work without the other!

Happy days!!!!

Awesome post karin, I find myself struggling with what to write about. So I read a few of your blog post you have written. Im not sure if I have what is called writers block. I think this is what someone would call it. Lol anyways I wanted to say hi as well. I think I will figure it out, how to write a blog post. Take care.

The benefit of writing the blog posts (at least for me) is that I can write about almost anything as long as it is relatable to what we are here for which is to succeed and to help each other do the same!

Best wishes to your success,

Karin

Thank you Karin, I've been spending time reading on several other blogs and some friends that I have been following for sometime. Thanks for your encouraging idea, it's just putting thought to words. Lol

Oh, wow: last night! I feel for you, Karin.... Hard to do even those things that we KNOW we need to do. I can identify, even if I don't have your issue with needles.
Best of luck to you,
Tim

Tim,

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, It has been a hard week getting used to the insulin itself, not just the shot. But it's going...
Have a good week!

Best wishes to your success,

Karin

Keep eating those apples...I hope the insulators fir you. Take care...you are absolutely right...taking care of our health is the priority.
Debbie

Who does like needles? Sorry you have to go through this but as you say, we need to take care of ourselves. Health is number one to accomplish anything else.
Hope your health starts to improve and you feel better. Your readers need you on your website and we need you here in the WA community!

You are so thoughtful! Thank you!

Best wishes to your success,

Karin

As a fellow type 2 sufferer, I can empathise with you Karin. I am still on tablets but brought my blood sugars under control by following the paleo diet.

I wish you well as you go forward.

Derek

I am exploring different "diets" to try to control my blood sugar. Paleo is similar to the one that my mom and I go on once in a while called The Whole 30.

Love that Granny Smith Karin!

Isn't she pretty! My favorites are Red Delicious, though!

Karin

200% agree with Karin :) without health, without eating and drinking water, we have nothing!

Thank you, Thong. I hope all is going well for you!

Best wishes to your success,

Karin

and you too :) wish for your good health!

My wife was told she had to start insulin shots and she cried. She started out with pens cause a friend of hers had a gastric bypass and still had a years worth of refills. My wife also received a years worth by another company. Those ran out and she still had not been awarded disability due to her neuropathy. We had to by the Wal-Mart brand and syringes. Boy did she hate that. She finally has her disability and is back on the pens for now.

I totally empathize with your wife! That neuropathy is horrible. I am glad she was able to get her disability and could go back to the pens. They are much easier to use.

Best wishes to your success,

Karin

This is so true!!! Because like you said without health how are we able to communicate or really anything.

Tried and True

Elaine

Thank you for your always kind words, Elaine!

Best wishes to your success,

Karin
