It's all about the story

There's always a story. It's all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything's got a story in it. Change the story, change the world. ~ Sven Sundgaard (Local Minnesota weatherman)

We all have a story to tell...

Some stories are easy to tell while others are more difficult. But, we ALL have a story to tell.

What is exciting about stories is the fact that they can and do change the world.

Your story could change the world

Your personal story that you tell on your niche blog site could change the world for someone. If it can change the life or improve the life of one person, then it can change the lives of others.

If you don't like your story, then change it

This is probably easier said than done, but if you don't like the way your story is going, then work on changing it.

We can all make changes in our own personal worlds that changes our story in the long-term.

If you don't like the way things are going, then find a way to make them better.

I am not saying this in an off-hand way to imply that this is easy—I know that change is hard—but if you don't do anything to improve your lot in life (your story) then don't complain about it, either.

I was raised with a lot of abuse in my life. If I were to let that define me (which I did for many years) I surely wouldn't be here on Wealthy Affiliate talking about change!

I changed my story. Sure, the abuse still happened, but my response to it changed and that has made all the difference!

Start with small changes

You don't have to change your story overnight. Too many people, once they realize that a change is necessary, attempt to change everything all at one time.

This spells DISASTER with a capital D!

Small steps, baby steps, even, is the way to make BIG changes a reality.

Making those small steps toward your bigger goals can mean the difference between success and failure.

Remember, it takes time.

Keep moving forward—even if you fall down

I have heard the phrase many times that we can fail, but we should "fail forward."

I have failed forward many times. I think the best way to explain this concept is that when you "fail backward" you quit. When you "fail forward" you simply found a way that didn't work and you will try another path.

Whatever you do, though, if you fail, don't just lie there! Get up, dust yourself off and keep rewriting your story.

I'm an expert at falling down! But I am also an expert at getting up again! You can become an expert, too.

The story is the thing

No matter what you do, remember, the story is the thing that will draw in the readers to your blog. If you have a good story (even if it is about bad things) they will stay and read your story.

Can a story be about a recommendation for a blender or a coffee pot? Why not? You can share your experience or your research and make that story about the blender and its pros and cons into something that will give someone a reason to check it out!

Will a story about a blender or a coffee pot be exciting? Why can't it be? Bring life to your story and I truly believe your bank account will be blessed by it!

What will your story tell about you?

If you want to reach an audience, include parts of yourself in your story. People long for personal connections. If you include yourself, people will be "attracted" to that. I'm not saying that you have to share the intimate details of your life or where you live or your social security card number or your bank account number. I am saying, share things about your life like a vacation you took or one of your pets (don't share your pet's name if you use it for any of your passwords, though!).

Because people long for connection, when you share parts of your personal life and experiences, it makes you a "real" person to your reader. People connect with real people.

Change your story, change your world

When we long to change or improve our world, we have to start with ourselves. Change is hard, but it is necessary if we want to improve.

For example, when you were a child (before school age), you may have enjoyed carefree days of playing and helping your family (for those of you who did not go to daycare). But when you reached school age, you had to go through a major change.

Instead of playing alone or with your family or siblings, suddenly you were thrust into a classroom with 20-30 other children—most of whom you did not know.

You had to learn cooperation with other children who were also learning how to do the same things.

It was scary. It was intimidating. It was challenging, but it was also fun.

That's the thing about change—it can be fun!

Let's change our story (if need be) and let's do our parts to change the world!

Best wishes,
Karin :)

Great post!!
It is true that everyone at our level we can change the lives of one or two people through the help we provide through our blog. You're absolutely right, it's up to us to choose the path we want to take and if we don't like it there are plenty of other trails to test. The important thing, as you say so well, is to move forward and make sure to change the world in our own way and at our level.

Have a beautiful day!!
Ingrid

Thank you, Ingrid! I bet the kids you work with absolutely love you! You are such an encourager!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Thanks for your great words!!
It goes straight to my heart!!!

I couldn't of said it better. We all can change our story.
Wanda

Yes we can!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

I'm definitely looking to make adjustments to my story Karin. I would never change the past because I might lose those characters in my life that are important to me. But, moving forward, well that's a different story. Jim

Without our pasts we would not be who we are.

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Karin, thoughtful post as always. I'm taking a leaf out of your story-and make some changes, I have to. My goal was to start making money by the end of this year and the path I'm on now will not make it-at least I don't see it that way. So, like we say about the weather, "yep, a change is a-comin"

Embrace the changes for they can be very good!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Tell a story and get people more interested in your site.

Derek

It seems to work. I tell stories on my grandparents site and it seems like people really like them.

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Karin, great post and great story. Yes, we all have one and we should share it through our posts, websites...let that show our strength that we can get up after we fall down. Nothing wrong with falling, but it is wrong to lay there!
Joe

Thanks for reading my "story," Joe!

Just keep rising from the falls!

Best wishes,
Karin :)

We are the masters of our destiny, we are the writers of our story, it will be what we sincerely want it to be. If we refuse to stop, if we refuse to give up. We have all that we need inside of us to acquire our dreams, may. you have a most wonderful weekend.

Very nicely put! :)

Best wishes,
Karin :)

Best wishes,

Michael

Glad you liked it, Michael!

Best wishes,

Alternate history is a writer's best friend!

I agree, it's what my book series thrives on and allows the writer a lot of leeway in telling their story!

Jeff

I used to make my school bullies into "nice people" in my early writing!

Karin

I'm reading a novel now on distortion of reality!

Interesting stuff. Dystopian novels are good too.

Jeff

I think I am going to start writing one!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁
