I call baloney!
If you are like me, you have probably seen many of these outrageous claims made by many Wealthy Affiliate wannabes...
They promise instant fortunes with little to no work or effort. Sadly, many of us have been taken in by the appeal of easy money. Okay, sadly, I have been taken in a few times. Okay, more than a few times.
I believe my first foray into the world of "easy money" began when I was 20. I was bored and saw all these ads for making earrings and the like at home and getting $5 per pair or some number like that.
I bought the kits and began to work. It was fairly easy once I got the hang of it. I am NOT craft oriented at all!
I finished my first 25 sets and sent them in to get my $125. I could already "smell" the money! I was already spending the money.
I NEVER got the money. A form letter told me about what I had done wrong. My strings weren't tight enough. My beads didn't line up exactly like the pattern.
I was welcome to fix the "mistakes" and they would reconsider.
I did this two more times and gave up. I had spent more money than what I "would have" made had I sold the earrings for the "promised" price.
I tried a few more of the offers like washing and combing mohair to be made into doll's hair. My mohair was never clean enough or straight enough or something enough.
As I grew older the methods I tried became more sophisticated. Why I kept falling for them I may never know. I guess the appeal of making a living without going to a 9 to 5 job was the biggest draw for me.
I tried Multi-Level Marketing (MML) a couple of times (okay—more than a couple of times).
I tried multiple ways of making money online.
The bottom line, though, is just this, Wealthy Affiliate doesn't make promises of big money falling into your lap the minute you sign up. Wealthy Affiliate doesn't make any false promises.
The promise they do make is to teach you what you need to know to make money on the Internet. The rest is up to you. It's up to you to do the work. It is up to you to follow the training which, in my humble opinion, is top-notch.
The step-by-step training walks you through everything you need to know to set up a fantastic website. It teaches you how to monetize it. You could make a little money. You could even make a lot of money. But you have to do the work!
Are you ready to work?
I know I am. Well, I have been for a couple of years now. Occassionally, I get distracted by shiny objects, but for the most part, I know that if there is good money to be made on the internet, it will be made through what I learn at Wealthy Affiliate!

Funnily, the "you have to work at building your income" was what turned me off from WA the first time.
Why would I put in the work if there are sites who promised me overnight riches without work?
So I fell for the scams again and again.
4 years later, I found my way back to WA and have never looked back.I have been distracted with shiny objects now and then but deep down I know WA has the tools to make anyone succeed online if you`re putting in the work.
I am glad you found your way back to WA. I think we all get distracted from time to time by shiny objects, but when we know something to be true, like WA, then I think it is easier to ward off the shiny object syndrome!

Easy money only exists for liars.
We all walked past these announcements that give us the fortune of Bill Gate with a snap of the fingers, just by working an hour a day and letting a software run in autopilot.
As we are people made of emotions, we want to believe it and it is normal. Who wouldn't want to have to press a button and watch the bank account fill with money falling from the sky.
Fortunately the experience makes us smarter and today we are smarter than yesterday and we will not be fooled by these promises made by so-called professional internet marketers who can't find other ways to earn money than lying to honest people ready to learn to be successful.

I love what you say here in your comment, Ingrid! We are smarter because of our past mistakes and it makes us harder to fool. So many of us cannot afford to be taken advantage of. I am so grateful for WA for keeping it real and being honest.

I started WA on Jan 16, 2016 and after struggling to create posts and websites using only my phone, I finally started earning online on November 6, 2016! and I've never looked back!

My dad, I remember got sucked into trying to find quick easy ways to make money. It never worked out when he did. I've considered doing MLM's, but I didn't like any product enough to feel passionate enough to try and get people to join my team.
What I like about WA, is that, like you say, they are honest and don't make outrageous claims of instant money.
You gotta WORK!

I was thinking something else about WA that is great is that you can build any kind of site you want. You aren't limited to selling a certain product like in MLMs. You can bet creative and expand your reach when the time is right!
I don't mind working at something I enjoy!
