A short update
Just a little update on what I have been up to for the past few months.
I can't believe it has been over two months since my last post on here! Time truly does fly when you're having fun or if you don't know what you're doing! For me, it has been a little of both. I have been having fun working on new ideas for my blogs and most of the time I don't know what I'm doing!
What have I been doing?
I have taken on more than I can chew in some cases. I am still working part-time for the newspaper that I have worked at for the past 26 years. I started working part-time with one of my granddaughters and daughters who have disabilities. I began part-time work writing blog posts and newsletters for another business. And, of course, I have been working full-steam ahead on one of my own businesses.
Much to the chagrin of my spouse, I am working about 70 hours a week. I try to manage my time well, but sometimes it gets difficult. Since I do most of it from home, I have a little difficulty seeing the problem, but I guess I am somewhat distracted. . .
One of the new things I have been doing is a daily video for my YouTube channel. It goes by the same name as my blog. Each day I post the video, put it in my daily blog post, and then share both the blog post and the video on my Facebook business page as well as on my personal Facebook page.
Why am I doing this?
One of the things I have tried to make clear each time I have added more to my "plate" is that I am working hard now so that I can help prepare us for a good retirement. Plus, I really like what I am doing. Yes, it's a lot of work, but I love doing it.
I think what makes such a huge difference is that I am calling the shots in my own life. When I finally sat down with my employer in May and told him that I needed to cut back, he was okay as long as I stayed. I told him what I was willing to continue doing and he was fine with that. It made me feel valued. I still get a little stressed out at "work" but I am enjoying it a lot more than I was.
I love doing videos!
A big surprise to me is the fact that I love making videos. I thought I would be far too nervous and self-conscious to do it. But I have done one nearly every day for the past three weeks and I have a lot of fun doing them. I believe I am on my sixth for my main diabetes site and will be working on #7 today!
My granddaughter has been working on her videos, too, as she still wants to grow up to be a "youtuber"! https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/karin13/blog/my-budding-you-...
As much as I love doing videos, I think my granddaughter loves it still more!
We purchased a light ring to help do better videos, at least light quality wise! We are still using my cell phone to do the videos, but the light ring does seem to help. I imagine that in the near future we will be investing in a different camera along with microphones.
In the meantime, we will continue to do our best with what we have. And, of course, continue to have a lot of fun while doing it!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
