A Word of Advice - For Newbies and Long Timers Too

So...got a couple of things on my mind today. Some just observations and some things to just come on out and say. Sorry if I come across as abrupt...that's not my intention. I know I'm still new around here, but I've been around for a while.

Difference between comments and feedback. Comments are what you leave as a reader and show up for the public to see. Feedback is technical/constructive information that is private and only the owner of the website sees. If you are in the comments feed, please refrain from giving feedback with suggested changes as a comment on someone's website.

Pointing out errors
. If you're not giving requested feedback, but see errors it's a good thing to PM that person instead of calling them out in open forum. I welcome corrections and appreciate someone bringing them to my attention, but a PM just seems more courteous to me.

Don't try to force your advice on others. We newbies appreciate advice from you long timers, but if a newbie doesn't take it just let it go. And please don't take it personally. Trying to push your point only succeeds to give the impression that you are smarter than the dumb new person. While we know this isn't intentional, I always say that perception is reality.

I'm done
. Sorry if it sounds like I'm on a soapbox, but I just had to get that off my chest. This Southern girl doesn't have a problem speaking up, but some people may simply leave WA if they feel humiliated. And I don't think any of us want that. We all have different personalities, are different ages, and come from different cultures, but we can mesh together for the greater good!

I do appreciate all of you and know I couldn't do it without you!

All the best to you!

Karen

Thanks, Karen as we should all revise our WA lessons and will be surprised at what you have missed or forgotten.

Tom.

We all need a little reminder every now and then...

Good Morning Karen,

You said that very well. I am also a very straight forward person but generally try to be careful and nice. I agree we should not be nasty and a PM is always a good option.
It sometimes happens that there is a question so there the answers should be visible to all so one can learn.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Agreed about the Q & A, but when someone is not asking for answers or feedback and the unsolicited advice isn't for the greater good of the community (i.e. misspelled words/grammar) then a PM is best. It's like shouting out loud to a man the his zipper is open in front of a large crowd instead of whispering it in his ear.

Greetings from the Southern part of the U.S.!

You made me laugh with that zipper story, good one.

All the best, Taetske

Excellent points, Karen. Thanks for sharing.
Have a wonderful Wednesday,
Mickey

You too Mickey! About to call it a night so I’ll be rested and ready for Wednesday.

Good points ..
we all have to remember we are real people with real feelings ...
Thanks for comments
