Traffic for your website - How badly do you need it?!

13
1.2K followers

What are you doing to get more traffic for your website?

1. Are you using social media? How many SM platforms are you currently managing?

2. Are you getting free traffic? From where?

3. Are you running any paid traffic campaigns currently and are they working well?

Do you guys think it's worth it to pay for site traffic? Perhaps once you have a well established website then it can be but what about those that just got started, that still have very little content and 1 or 2 links they could potentially monetize? They would just like a small trickle of visitors, to see their first sale and gain a bit of confidence!

What is the best way to help someone in this position?

How much content is recommended before one should focus on getting traffic?

Kind regards,

Kamil

Hi Kamil, wealthy affiliate can be the place where the starter can ask for help and advice, need no worry about this. It really rely on how one created their contents and the more contents of cause will be better for starter. I had created eight before posting it to social media. Thanks for your articles and wish you best of luck.

As Jovo mentioned, different things work for different people. I actually think it is great if you can get organic traffic, which I do have. I also use paid traffic and the popular social media platforms. So for me it is a combination of various methods.

I only have organic traffic, and I am happy to keep it that way. Very slow process but I do not have to waste time and money on social media which will never work for me. So I would say keep writing and try to get ranked, the traffic will be a logical consequence of it.

Clearly, other people are doing well with social and paid traffic and this is fine, but this is not my way.

That is the beauty of this we get to do what works for us. That is important.

Sure, agree completely.

All great speculations Kambas. As you well know, you definitely should be using several social media platforms, i.e. Facebook, Linked In, Instagram, Twitter, etc.at one time to boost your traffic.

As for doing paid ads, it depends on your niche. If you plan on them you should time this would more caution.. I would try the organic route first.

Before doing paid ads, you need to ask yourself:

1) Even if they bring me traffic, do I expect these adds will directly lead to conversions?

If you are running an e-commerce store with low ticket and high demand items, then YES you have high odds they are likely to bring you traffic AND conversions.

However, if you are selling a high ticket product or service like me, additional traffic will unlikely lead to direct conversions. You need to reassess and employ a multi-pronged strategy.

2) Are you looking to gain new social media followers from targeting demographic groups?

YES, paid ads are GREAT for this.
If you know how to conduct your research properly, you can very quickly accumulate followers with paid ads (I've seen this work first-hand) and immediately increase your brand value.

Thank you Kaju, great input here and things to ponder on.
I certainly cannot manage too many SM platforms, gets a bit much but they a great source for traffic.

Just have to take time to optimize, experiment and scale what works :)

Slow and careful. Traffic is your lifeblood!

Thanks for sharing, Kamil.

Paid traffic does work if you are very careful. I have been using it for years and it has made me a lot of money.

But paid traffic is a mine pit. You have to be very careful where you buy traffic.

Not all paid traffic is a scam. Facebook ads are paid traffic they are not a scam? PPC ads are paid traffic, ads on Google, Bing and Yahoo are paid traffic is that a scam?

Kyle even teaches about Paid Traffic here.

Would I recommend paid traffic if you are just getting going?

Absolutely not!

Not until you are monetized real well and know where and how to run paid traffic.

If you do not have a clear way to monetize then you are wasting your money.

The goal of paid traffic is to always get more money back from sales then what you paid for the traffic. If you paid $10 for an ad you have to get more then that back in profit from sales.

I run paid traffic campaigns every day. I have them running today. Do they work? About 30 referrals in May for Wealthy Affiliate.

Yes they work if you do it right. If you don't do it right flush your money down the toilet it will do the same thing.

Yes I use both Social Media and free traffic to get visitors and that is where to start. You build that up first because it teaches you how to get visitors so when you run an ad you know what to do.

Thanks Bo, that is some good advice. I think I will wait on paid traffic until I figure out this social media thing.

Very well stated Bo, thank you for confirming this.
and there you go! 30 referrals in 1 month thanks to paid traffic, not bad may I say! ;)

Are you using Traffic Globalization and MoneyLine?

I appreciate the wise counsel, Bo. I think I'll wait a bit before I venture into paid traffic.

Yes build up your free traffic first so one you learn what you are doing. Then it is easier to move into paid traffic.

I am using Moneyline. I think or at least the last time I checked I was ranked number 20 on the Leaderboard. So yes, I do use things like that.

Getting 30 referrals is from a lot of learning what to do and where to advertise. Once you do that then your results get pretty consistent. It does not matter if it is free or paid it works the same.

Yes definitely. Get things setup and running good. then Use money your are earning from your website to advertise with not from your pocket. Once you do that you get control over what happens or what doesn't.

Not bad???

You do that 12 times a year, that's 360 new referrals. If only 1/4 became Premium Members, that's 90 refertals!!! It's not bad...it's great!!!

And it is doable. All that lays out in front of you. It is just a matter of learning how to.

I think everyone, in my opinion, should give paid ads a try just to get your feet wet. It isn't for everyone, but you might be surprised by the results. I gave it a shot back in March and overall, it was not a success, but I did get a couple of small sales from it so it wasn't totally a waste. I personally would rather just build up my traffic through organic searches on Google and search engines, but doing paid ads once in awhile is not always bad thing especially if you have the funds for it.

If your site is ready to make money you are exactly right. I use paid ads every day.

Greetings, Kamil,

This is one of the areas that need major tweaking! I think I need to set aside a day when I can read other trainings on increasing traffic, then take the steps to implement what I learned...like yesterday!

How was your week, Kamil? Any special plans for the weekend? I know you're not a 9 to 5 guy, just wanted see what's going on in South Africa. Have you ever been to America? (Wait, do you live in South Africa, or am I getting confused?)

Hi Veronica!

Hope you keeping well? ;)

Yes this is something vital we all need to understand. I'm learning how this all works so I can be more helpful to some folks who are slowly starting to inquire.
I have been more active on LinkedIn and starting to see small traffic ripples from SM efforts.

My week was insane as usual. Full-time Kambas is going to take a break soon! :D
My plans are to catch up 2 weeks of backlog orders, there are 100's of little Lego minifigures in transit and the South African post office is driving me dilly as usual! ^^,

Have not yet visited the US but I want to one day when things are less intense.
The nice thing about SA is that they turn off the power often enough to take a break lol! :p
Besides our junk status economy there is not much to say, I'm trying to get more SA people to join WA so they have other income options.

Take care and God bless.

Best regards,
Kamil

A man with a plan!!!

You're doing great, Kamil, I always appreciate your contribution to this community.

Have you ever done some type of forum where you invite people to see a sort of presentation for WA? I remember reading James (Drjec) wrote a post about him sitting down with a group of people.

Ah yes, think I read that from Jim a while back.
Oooh, maybe on a website yes but in person no, sorry, it reminds me of showing the Amway plan back in the day when I was 20... great business and people BUT no thank you :)

I started incorporating more video links throughout my posts but have not yet done a personal presentation no. Maybe one day ^^
I also thought of going down the tutorial path, maybe video training will be easier and faster to put together than writing training tutorials. People prefer watching that reading these days, the majority anyway.

I know that most paid traffic is a scam and all you get are "Bots" which land on your site for 15 seconds and then gone !
They come all at the same time in the day and all programmed!

The best way is social groups and 65% of my traffic comes from this

Paul

I would never consider paying for traiffic, and now you've confirmed that for me. Thanks, Sir Paul!

Happy to help

Thank you for sharing this Paul! ;)

Yes, one issue is the scam bot traffic and one gets a horrible bounce rate as a result.

I assume the other 35% comes from your SEO efforts, posts being ranked on search engines and WA training?

Yes sir!

I don't think you should be completely turned off at the prospect of buying traffic because I believe there are really good traffic sourcing agencies that focus on sending targeted traffic to your site, though it might not be 100% reliable it can still be very profitable!

Here is an example;

You buy traffic for $200 and the company you pay sends you 10 000 targeted visitors. 100 of them sign up to WA and 10 go premium (if your conversion rate is at 10%).
If you a premium member yourself you get $1750 if 10 people go premium for 12 months.

So investing $200 to get $1750 sounds like a no-brainer to me :)

I know it won't always work this way but I don't think we should completely avoid buying traffic.

Regards,
Kamil

Paul, check this out (image)...
This is what I get from my traffic service provider, additionally there is info on which pages were visited.

Have this for the last 100 visitors.

Is that a scam in your opinion? Do you think these details might be fabricated?

Thsy makes sense, Kamil. I like what Bo said. For now, I think my time would be better spent masteting building traffic through social media and other free methods.
