I just got my site crawled on search console, and my first email came back with loads of errors I just got another email with this:

Top Errors (5 maximum)

Errors

Try this training. Dave

Thanks Dave,
I tried it, but it really doesn't help a non-techy like me. It's not helping me in fixing the broken links, I'm not really sure what that is either! I'll figure it out somehow.

I'm having trouble finding a theme I like, does anyone use a theme for their diet or food site they love?

My site is

Your website LOOKS good to me, the theme is great, when a visitor clicks on your site they clearly understand it's a food website, I like the white background, it's simple and clear, the only thing is you need to get a good logo. I would focus on writing content and getting visitors, this theme is ok, you should focus on more important things.

Thanks Anis,
Thanks for checking out my site! Your opinion means a lot to me! I think I finally found where I want my site to go. I've been looking for a brand and I finally found it, i hope. "Make It Your Way"!
As far as a logo, I'm not sure how to go about that. I guess it's a visual, (picture)? that will be carried forth throughout all posts?
I haven't gotten to anything in the training about logos and/or branding. I just picked this up on my own.
Any ideas?
I am finding this theme working well. After my question, I'm going to stick with it. I published 5 posts yesterday that I had been working on in editor. Finally got them put together! I'm up to Level 4, social media, so I'm hoping that will help.
I've set my goals and so far I'm sticking with them!
Thanks again,
Jeanette

Here's how to make a logo (I couldn't share the Youtube vid here so please search this on Youtube "How to Design Your Own Logo For FREE | Easy Tutorial") did you publish all the 5 posts in one day or did you schedule them out? You know posts need to be published regularly like 3-4 times a week in a consistent way to see results from Google.

Wish you the best Jeanette and please get back to me whenever you need help!

Thanks Anis,

Yeah, I know that was overkill, It was actually 4 posts and I'm not planning on doing that often. I had been working on them for a while and they all kind of went together. So that's just the way it happened. I'm shooting for 2-3 a week. I work full time so if I can keep that goal, I think I'm doing pretty good! I'll work on my logo. Thanks! Have a great day

Jeanette

I'm happy to hear you're doing well! Remember I'm always available here if you have any questions! :) Cheers
Anis

There's a search option on the themes page in the dashboard. You may find one in there.

Hope this helps

Thanks Andrew, I have been looking for a new theme there. I will just keep trying them until I find one I like.
Thanks!

I got accepted to Google Adsense, yay! I'm new to this, and very excited! I can't figure out where to put the code to have the ads appear on the side bar of my posts. I have on

Hi Jean, Ad Inserter plugin is good like Scott said.

There are many ways but the one I use is the Ad Inserter plugin. It gives you total control of ad placement and they have a great how-to on using their plugin with AdSense.

How do I add adsense ads to the sidebar on my site?

I have been using "posts" as my pages on my site, but it's just one long newsfeed. It's not readable, how do I make them come up as one page each? Why do we use posts, and not

Instead of having them as one big long continuous blog, I would suggest you use a feature image for each post then use the "Continue Reading" button for each post as well. That way, it breaks up the reading for the visitor and gives them a "blurb" of each article.

To use the "continue reading " option, go to edit mode of your post in WordPress, then within the first few words of your post, hit the button that looks like a "train track". In some themes, you can actually indicate how many words your blurb can be by going to your theme customization but once again, it depends on the theme you're using.

To set a "Featured Image", while in edit mode of each post, go to the bottom of the screen on the right to upload an image for that particular post.

I would not suggest you change your blog roll posts to individual pages. It's not very user friendly for your visitors.

I hope all works out and wishing you the best.

Yvette

Thanks Yvette, It worked! It looks better. My only question is, right now I only have 5 posts, what happens down the road when you have a hundred Posts? Does it just go on and on? Doesn't make much sense to me. What am I not getting?

I'm going to send you a PM to explain a bit more.

Yvette

I’m not sure if you can change this however I’ve had this problem and I’ve just cut and pasted the post onto a page.

I never deleted the post Though as it was a published post. I just deleted the content and write a new post as not to affect my rankings

I’m sure there is an easier way, perhaps use the search bar to see if anyone has put any training or articles on in this subject?

Thanks dalwhu, I have used wordpress before and I always made pages, not posts. I was a little confused by this in the training when we didn't do this here. I used the "read more" button and it did shorted things up, but I think it's going to be a big mess if I have tons of blogs! Jeanette

Hi Jeanette

Glad you found a way to sort this out.

I have the read more button on but I use a static page as a home page. I gave it set on an introduction / about me page with my blog menu in my side bar.

It is difficult when there are lots of blog post is it it.

I have been finding that using the editor to write posts is not very user friendly for me. Lots of times I lose font, paragraphs change to headings and there's no undo! Is it m

I'm assuming you're speaking SiteContent when you refer to the editor. I only use it to get my text into Wordpress, down and dirty, and then I edit in Wordpress for formatting, etc. I like the word count feature of Site Content and the spelling/grammar check as well as the duplicate content checker. But formatting? Wordpress dashboard instead.

This is crazy, i just found your reply to my question! Thanks, after all this time I do exactly what you do. I like all the checks in SiteContent, but as far as adding pictures and links and regular formatting, I use wordpress. Sorry I lost you!
