Hey everyone,

as I decided to restructure my website according to many helpful tips I received from WA members, I'd like to know how I can turn posts into pages without lo

Rich has it for you

I agree with Rich.

Me too

Yes, I guess I'll stick with Rich's ideas! Thanks for your opinion! :)

Pm Kyle as he will give you the perfect answer.

Thank you! I've already written a message to both Kyle and Carson!

Very good question ... And I am sure a tricky answer. I would PM Kyle or Carson with this question as they are the Guru's of Google -

Thanks! I've already written a message to both Kyle and Carson! :)

So-if she does the page/post switch will google consider this duplicate content?

Nope, if Vanessa follows my instructions below, the permalink of the new page will be identical to the old post. :) R.

This is good to know, thanks!

Thanks to both of you! Sounds like a good idea!

The easy way for me is to copy content of your posts and paste them on the 'add new' Page. Use Ctrl-C (for copy), then go to 'Add new Page', then paste your highlighted contents on your new page. This way, you won't need to re-align the paragraphs. But if you've got heaps of posts already, then follow merryman88's advice.

Thanks, Jen! I think I'll stick with Rich's approach.:)

Hey Vanessa. The idea that pages will outrank posts is somewhat dated, and doesn't seem to hold true any more. However, if you want to do this, simply copy and paste the content via the Text tab from the post to a page, and keep it in draft. Then delete the post AND empty the trash, this will free up the post's permalink for reuse, so you can now publish the page under the old post's original title and permalink. :) Rich.

Hey Rich, thank you so much for your quick answer!

I do not believe in pages outranking posts, either. It's all about the organization of my website, which I would love to change to make it easier for my visitors to find everything. What is the permalink again? Is it (example) www.blog.de/blog-post ? How about the rankings my posts have received so far? Will I lose them with this approach?

Have a great weekend, Vanessa :)

In that case, the majority of your content should be Posts to which you add Categories to group the relevant ones together. The permalink is the url of the post or page. :) R. x

Hi Vanessa,
I suggest that you copy and paste the text from the post/blog store it in a temporary file of say MS notepad then delete the Post text on your web site then add new page and paste the text into the new page and save.

Hope this helps .

Ray Bowley ( Merryman88 )

Thanks for your help! I think I'll stick with Rich's approach.:)

I'm not 100% sure about this but maybe first ask google to delete your post url and when it's done then you can copy your post html and paste it into your page ?
Would love that a pro can confirm what i just said :)

Thanks for your help! I think I'll stick with Rich's approach.:)

Hey everyone,

it would be lovely if someone could just take a look at my website www.theresponsiblebuyer.com<

I agree, your site is nice looking but as soon as the info link popped up in a sentence with a Kelly Blue Book ad, you lost me. It takes away from what you are trying to do. Your content is great so keep at it!

Thanks for the comments! Because I know now how infolinks banners annoy my visitors I deleted all of them. I hope this helps!

Have a great day! =)

I agree with adams your links may be taking them away, when others get to a site and go off the site they get nervous, make your links spread out with each one having a tag or title so they dont worry if they should click there, they will only click there when they are ready to go there. other wise the content is awesome

Thank you so much for your comments!

As I could never view the ads infolinks posted on my site (maybe they know my IP address or something like this), I never knew of the negative impact they had on my visitors. I'm not using their banners and links anymore.

And thanks for your compliment about my content, too!

Have a great day! :)

Like the basic color style it goes well with the type of product your selling but the infolinks are ruining it for me.

Also notice you don,t have an Amazon affiliate disclaimer anywhere on site, they wont be happy if they check and its not there. Please read section ten of the operating agreement https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/agreement/

P.S
You also have what looks like part of a tracking code under the photo of you on the front page which could do with removing. ""

Thank you so much for your help! I just published the Amazon affiliate disclaimer and deleted this weird tracking code. I'm so thankful for you pointing this out! :)

Hi Vanessa,

I am no expert, but I see your website as attractive and easy to read except for all the links that all seem to go everything except what you are talking about. I think this linking is probably confusing and distracting to others as it is to me. Great ideas and beautifully laid out, be patient, things will get better.

Ed

Oh i just love the information you have in your webpage. But i've seen too many backlinks which connected to facebook. I think you installed a plugin that triggers this backlinks and connect it to facebook which are not appropriate that can lead to google issues.

I will review this in a few minutes.

I think your site is looking good, looks like you are on the right track..the one thing that would turn me off right away are the two sides that come in and have all those ads... they are very distracting, not related to you site and have the same ads on both side.. I would get rid of all of them , they take a way from your content. A few other thoughts would be not to use "I" so much in your writing, you want to focus on your readers, make it about them, and maybe increase your font a little bit :-) I hope this help

Hi I took a look and saw that you had info-links --I would get that off your site ---I know it was in the lesson but the search engines don't like it -----that is the short --If you want PM Carson and ask Him.

I maybe wrong to many page titles tabs --put some under as sub or child tabs --you do that in your menu--by drag and drop the ones you want under --just grab it and move it right under to the right a little --I will look more --hope this helped ---!!!

Vanessa, with the internet I am on I can't get the link I am looking for but if you search in WA How to Create Dropdown menus you can find what croniweb is talking about. Sorry unable to get at this time.

Thanks a lot for evaluating my site, croninweb! I've already deleted the infolinks stuff - I couldn't view the ads myself so I had no idea how bad they were.

Thank you for the helpful Dropdown Menu lesson, too! I'm going to watch it tonight! :)

You've been of great help!

And also a big thank you to Profmiss! I'm very grateful for your tip! Have a great day! :)

You are so welcome---just PM if you need help ---Have a great time of this !!!

I like the site. The green really caught my attention when I landed on the page. Looks like you are doing good with content creation too.

Have you looked at your keywords in Jaaxy or another keyword tool to see what type of competition you have? Maybe you are just choosing really competitive keywords for very little traffic?

Another thing to consider, who is linking to you? One of the Google updates a year ago (Panda or Penguin, can't remember which), landed penalties on sites when their backlinks were coming from spammy sites. So they gave us the ability to report those sites that were linking to us.

I noticed your page "Fair Online Shops" has a lot of "Follow-links". Google has also said that too many follow links aren't good. I'm not sure how many "too many" are, but one of my friends had this happen to him and he didn't have 50 links on his page.

Not sure if that is helpful. I was just trying to help you think outside the box :)

Shey

Dear Shey,

thank you so much for taking your time and evaluating my website!

I've been using the Keyword Tool on WA to check out how many sites are competing for the same keywords and I always chose keywords with a competition number below 300, so I'm not sure where the main problem is. Maybe it's because my site is only 7 months old and the others are more seasoned and trusted by Google.

I actually have like 130 backlinks, mainly from social media and other blogs I commented on, but I know it's important to have backlinks from more related websites.

Thanks for pointing out the follow-links - I really didn't know this!

I'm very grateful for your helpful comments & I hope my improvements will work! :)

Have a great day & I wish you much success!

Hi Juvasta,

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. You're right though, that it is possible that some of other sites are just more seasoned. Sounds like you have done all the work to do the right things. I hope it turns around for you soon and starts to climb the charts!!

Shey

I took a quick look after you put up you earned 23 cents and couldnt find your cluck add that you got your pay from. I would try to add an add or 2 on the right hand side so that no matter the page someine is on they have something to click. Other than that hopefully you are getting good traffic you just need to maybe find ways to call your readers to action?

Thanks for your help!
I've just deleted the infolinks banners because they seemed to have been annoying people. My traffic is not great - 1-10 people a day, sometimes more. But I'm getting there!

All the best for you and your business! :)

Hey everyone,

I changed my mind about a page on my website and would like to split the content into separate blog posts (it's just too much content for one page).

No

I don't think you will have a problem with it. If you split your artciles into two smaller articles then Google will reindex it.

Over time, Google will figure out that it's changed. You may get a duplicate penalty short term but it will discover that the old source is gone eventually. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It will work itself out.

This is an interesting question and one I would not mind seeing an answer for. I myself would have assumed that after resubmitting it with the change that it would be ok, but I do not have experience on that at this point.

Hey James, I'm hoping to get an answer soon, as well. We cannot be the only ones having these thoughts! I hope you're right about the resubmitting. I just want to avoid being punished by Google as much as possible. Let's hope someone might be able to help!

Hi there Vanessa.... the link appeared to open to a standard amazon description/sale page. No indication of which country the server is located in other than the server code (obidos). No apparent way of knowing where this server is located!

excellent website.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback! You're too kind!

Hey Vanessa,
Amazon is usually on delay when reporting stats. That could be why you were thinking that the links were not working. But it appears that the links are working.

Thank you so much for helping me out! I guess I was too quick thinking it doesn't work! It obviously does! =)

Click the link and it is working Crystal took along time to load for me but it might be from my end not sure.

LInk is working, but the post is overwhelming. I would try breaking it up in series, but it looks like it's already a series, I think.

Thank you so much, Chrystal! Yeah, I didn't know how to do it properly - I want the content on one page. I guess it's only for people who really want to know everything in detail - that's why I put a smaller post before the huge essay. :)

Hi Vanessa. I had a look at your site - I couldn't even find what I was supposed to click on to check. Other people have managed it but your links must be quite subtle.

I know you didn't ask for feedback on your site - but if I could make one observation. I wouldn't make posts the length of that one - nor would I quote all those sources. (it's really not necessary) You're trying to make it accessible for your readers and at the moment it reads like an academic paper. If you're not careful you will just turn people off. If you are going to have a post that long you need to use clear subheadings and more bullet points and you definitely need to add more relevant images.

:) Beverley

Dear Beverley,

it's so kind of you to check my site out! I know that the page is very overwhelming, but I really wanted to have it all on one page. I wasn't sure about the sources but I guess you're right - they aren't necessary. It's still under construction, anyways! The images are missing because I'm still looking for nice ones. And I know I need many of them along with decent headlines! Thank you so much for your help - it's very much appreciated!

Have a great day! =)

It's entirely up to you. But just bear in mind - it's not necessarily what you "want" it's what best for the readers and how people process information. If you think in terms of writing "essays' - the word you use above you won't have readers and that's a shame because you write well. It depends on what you really want your site to be. Good luck.

Thanks for pointing out again that, of course, the reader's interest is the main point. I've deleted the long article for now and I think about posting it one article after another in smaller chunks. However, I think I could get problems due to duplicate content, because google has already indexed the page. Do you have a tip for me?

Hi Vanessa,
It is working well. When I click the link under my personal conclusion it takes me here http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000NIFO96/therespbuye-21
Which is where I think you want to direct people and if so it is working. Well done!!

Terenzia

Thank you so much for your kind help, Terenzia! Good to know it's working properly! =) Have a great day!

Hi Vanessa,

I am staying in Hungary now and Amazon does not have its local site ready yet. I was directed to the US site:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003AYEHXE/therespbuye-20
Hope it helps.

Keep up the good work!
Tamas

Hey Tamas! Yes, I guess you're right - no way it can redirect, there. But thank you anyway! It's so kind of you to help me Have a great day! :)

Yup the link works. Looks like you've put a lot of effort and research into this post, awesome stuff!

Thank you so much for your time! I'm glad it's working! =) Yes, I've been researching the topic for quite some years and I wrote a piece on it. Thank you for your kind feedback!

Hi Vanessa.

I'm in the UK, and your amazon links took me to the Amazon.co.uk page for Starwest Botanicals Tea Gunpowder Green Organic, 1 Lb. the stash one worked fine too, taking me to: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000NIFO96/therespbuye-21

So it seems to be working fine.

All the best, Mark

Thank you so much, Mark! This is what I needed to hear. I'm glad it's working! =)

Hey everyone,

I've just signed up for an amazon associates account in order to get started with the Amazon affiliate program. However, as I'm German, I was shocked to see

If you are in Germany, can you sign up for the German one and get your money into a German back account?

Dear Michelle, unfortunately, that doesn't help in terms of US affiliate earnings - when a US citizen clicks my link and buys a product from the US Amazon site, I get the money from amazon.com, which is the US site and only concerns my US Amazon associate account. The German one is only important for German affiliate sales. (But I am targeting English speaking visitors mainly)

Hi Vanessa,
Did you get an answer? I'm in Australia, so am also interested in your query.

Not yet, but I make sure to post it here as soon as I know more!

Hi Vanessa that's a really good question, something I would also like to know the answer.

I'm glad this thread can help - I'm going to post an answer if I get one!
