Do YOU Practice What You Post?

So today I learned a valuable lesson in practicing what I post. On my website (which is

primarily themed around self-help and mindfulness) I write frequently about self care and taking care of yourself.

However I may have fallen foul of this very same advice - well in the physical sense anyway.

I've been wrestled with a cough since mid November, pushed it aside and ignored it as best I could during the festive month of December all the while drinking honey tea during the day, hot toddy before bed and rubbing vaporub vicks on my feet and socking them at night!

Don't laugh....it worked, I was able to sleep at night without coughing and I truly thought I was winning :-)

However about a week ago I started having nasal problems and assumed it was my sinus, so proceeded to use saline rinse periodically along with a lot of cream to soothe my aching nostrils. It wasn't working...

Today I bite the bullet and went to my GP!

So...it turns out I've a double infection - chest and nose...I didn't see that coming, so I've eaten humble pie and realised that I hadn't followed my own advice. It's time I practiced what I post.

I have 2 full days in front of me where I can practice hours of self care, and hopefully get myself better sooner rather than later.

But wait...there is a reason for this post other than wallowing in self pity.

I noticed that since I was told of my infections, I somehow FEEL worse!

It's mad because in the past two months I managed to go about my daily busy life working through and not wallowing.

My mind has somehow made me think that I AM SICK, I know I am not 100% but I can't shake

this feeling that I now feel CRAP - I need to actively dismiss these thoughts

So another lesson also is how the mind can play tricks on me. A good lesson for me to remember is that the thoughts in my head are just stories that my mind is telling me.

I apologise if this post does not translate onto paper as clear as it is in my own mind, shall we just say it's the drugs talking and leave it at that ;-)

Wishing you all a healthy weekend - YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH - Jules

Great post!
I hope that since you decided to take care of yourself, your health will get better and better. But you know, generous people are often their worst enemies. We like to take care of others and make sure that everything goes well for everyone. But we often make the mistake of forgetting ourselves as if we are afraid of taking too long for ourselves. Taking care of yourself is not selfishness, it is simply knowing how to be generous with yourself.

Take care of you!!
Ingrid

Very true Ingrid, I am being very generous and kind to myself now all in an effort to shake this feeling, it is the pits!

I'm hoping the revolving door of sharing the germs will be broken in the household and we can all get back to being happy and healthy again!

Bring on the Spring I say ;-)

Thanks for your good wishes my friend, Jules

Comes back to the basic, “practice what you preach” mindset.

I would expand it since we are talking affiliate marketing and sometimes we write reviews and give advice.

Do you?

Can you?

Will you?

My stand is to the best of my ability and circumstances, yes, practice what you preach and blog. But human nature comes in and sometimes circumstances makes it difficult.

A question for the soul...

Yes that is right Stanley, thanks for your comments my friend, Jules

Jules you have reminded us that it is important to take care of our health because it is important for our well-being and is the key to reaching our full potential. I am glad that you are taking care of yourself and you found out what was causing the persistent cough.
Wishing you many healthy days ahead!

Thanks Kay, thanks for your good wishes, taking this opportunity to follow you now, wishing you all the best, Jules
