Getting things done - Don't be afraid to fail

Time for a weekly check in. The summer has turned to more typical here in Finland. We've had night frost and day temps below 10 degrees Celsius for the whole week. Bye bye summer office. Maybe I can move to Spain some day...

Been busy with my day job but managed to write one ~2500 word post and about page of around 2000 words so the week has not been a complete failure regarding my site. I have also tried to be active here in WA community to network and slowly climb the ranks.

Rank is not actually any kind of goal of mine but it's surprisingly addictive :D. Just have to remember my priorities and not waste too much time here doing stuff that doesn't drive my site forward.

I'll be dedicating the rest of the weekend for commenting peoples sites to get some interaction on my own new content. If you happen to read this and have new content that needs comment, just drop me line and I will give you comment asap. I will also try to redo my layout as now it's just a standard Wordpress blog. Any theme suggestions (free or payed) would be much appreciated. If you want to check out my site for suggestions, just drop me a pm and I will provide the link.

One thing I wanted to share with you peeps is what I have learned at work and in life in general. If you want to get things done, you can't be afraid of failure. We see this all the time at work, people don't even get started with projects because they are so afraid of failure and judgment. Not getting things done is the true failure.

I think this applies to affiliate marketing as well. Your content can't always be 100 % but you should still push yourself to write and publish. It's the only way to move forward. You can always edit out stuff that doesn't make complete sense or you or your readers don't like.

I'm not saying you shouldn't care about quality, but there has to be a limit. Which do you think is better in the same time frame: Publish five 2000 word posts with some minor imperfections or one 2000 word post which you have perfected for hours and hours?

Great advice! Right now my schedule has changed again, and I have to reorganize my priorities. Now on the weekend I am working on my posts and during the week replying to emails. I have found if I concentrate on my posts on the weekend, then I can publish them any time during the week. This is the goal I am working for, so I hope that it helps. Failure helps me find better options to succeed.

Thanks for sharing!
Best,
Marcus

I struggle with my blog every day. I was a Nurse Practioner for most of my life. Perfection is a must, or your patients may die. So perfection is embedded in my soul. I appreciated your article because I need to lighten up, my blogs are not patients. Thanks, I needed this boost
Sandy

I can sympathize with this. Health care is one of exceptions where you want perfection and I'm sure it can be hard to shake a life long habit. All the best to you Sandy!

You've hit the nail on the head. True failure is not even trying or just completely giving up. We're all going to have struggles, but it's how we overcome those struggles that define us. Are you just going to hit the brakes and come to a complete stop, or are you going to put the pedal to metal and push forward? Lately, I've been opting with pushing forward even if at times I may not want. In the long run, it will definitely pay off.

Hi Jukkah, I agree with what you say, you need to take risks in order to get things done. Sometimes things happen and sometimes not but you need to keep pushing, Best Alan

Nice post. Kiitos

I like the way you think, Juhka, that is an interesting proposal that you have put forward, we can overthink and over edit, better to hit the publish button, and edit on the go. Thanks for sharing your insights.

You make many good points, Jukka.
Everyone wants perfection and right away.
As we get older and gain more life experience we realize that this is seldom the case.
I have found that always having a goal to strive for is very important.
Do your best and always try to do good.
In this way, you will Never fail.
Have a great day and always be good to yourself.
You deserve it!
Paul
