How Travel Can Boost Your Creativity

2016 has been an epic year for me in many ways but the most powerful impact it's had on my life is the travel I've been able to do.

I just got back from my second trip to New Zealand this year and we made the experience even more memorable by adding six days in The Kingdom of Tonga.

Travel hasn't normally been a huge part in my life as I've been busy working and being a single parent for much of my daughter's life the time and the resources just weren't there.

Things have shifted over the years, now my daughter is grown and last year she decided she was going to take a one year break and go and live and work in New Zealand with her boyfriend who's originally from there.

When she first told me about her plans the first thing that came to mind is how much I'd miss her being away for that long. She lives just outside the Vancouver area in Whistler BC so we see each other all the time.

Then as we talked further we talked about me coming over to New Zealand to visit and incorporate the time I was there visiting to get out and experience van life and basically do road trips around New Zealand.

In March we spent 3 weeks exploring the North Island of New Zealand and I just returned from round two that covered off exploring the South Island of New Zealand.

The experience of being on the road and seeing the incredible diverse aspects of life in New Zealand was life changing for me. Talk about broadening your horizons!

Couple that with the Tonga experience that consisted of us finding our way around the main island of Tongatapu with the misadventure of lost luggage and then being on a remote island staying in a beach fale and I felt I was ready for anything.

Now that I'm back home and getting settled back into normal life my perspective on things has really changed.

What used to seem difficult is now looking pretty easy. Problem solving is a breeze and the carry over of my incredible travel experiences I'm more inspired to create freedom than ever.

It's so easy to get stuck and not be aware of how much you are missing when you're got your blinders on and are comfortably immersed in your regular life routine.

Start to feed your creativity by mixing things up a bit in your life. After all we do when it comes to our online business begins with our creative energy.

Even if you just visit a different area near your home, shop differently or mix up your regular routine you'll start to notice your creativity growing if you focus on the fact that you're doing something different.

We can easily get hypnotized by our regular lives and before you know it your days are whizzing by in a blur and you haven't accomplished the goals you set for yourself.

You'll find you look at things differently when you focus on different situations and really pay attention to the experiences you find yourself in.

Remember, it doesn't have to be an exotic holiday away to bolster creativity.... make an effort to shake things up in your day to day life with a clear intention to be more creative and start to watch the magic happen.

How about you, what have you found makes a difference in boosting your creativity?

Here's to a magical creative holiday season for all!

Great that you got to see that magical part of the world I am privileged to call home. I am from the South Island and it is always good to hear if foreigners actually experiencing our mist beautiful island rather than the usual quick visit to Queenstown and Christchurch..... Your daughter is lucky to have fun herself a Kiwi bloke....

Thanks, Judy. I love the South Island and would love to retire there one day.

Hi Judy,

I'm so pleased you were able to visit our beautiful Country NZ, I hope you took some wonderful memories with you. I live in the North Island and I haven't had the opportunity to really tour the South Island, but I should before I take any more trips overseas.

Wishing you a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year :-)

Thanks so much, just took a look. What a great site... that makes me want to travel even more!

This year I wish I did some traveling. I was suppose to travel to NY.

Such a blessing to be able to share with loved ones, now with WA family. I agree with the idea of mixing up the every day- and changing routine! We do sometimes trade easy and known for boring and convenient without realizing it.
Thanks for the reminder.
Enjoyed your share,
Sami

I would love to travel and meet the right people to forfil my life and dreams, but be happy and successful also.
New Zealand sounds beautiful, enjoy your life.
God Bless you and your family, cheers, Tosh :)

You'll love it here in New Zealand Tosh, the 'laid back' people, the culture, the food, the Native wildlife, and the amazing scenery. It's a great place to be.

I can but dream, many thanks, Gaylene :)
Perhaps one day ;-)
