WordPress makes me Depressed!

Well, you know it is supposed to be simple, or maybe it is just me that is simple! I have been called a "wordsmith " in the past, but I must say that my wordsmithing has finessed to a few very choice words, probably not repeatable in the refined company on WA!

Wordpress has left me (de)pressed for words!

Anyway as an ediotr (er, sorry editor) I thought I had the skills to work most things out, but I'm stumped with this one although, I'm sure it's just a matter of perseverance and research. I take comfort in the fact that it is early days and I'm sure that I have greater challenges ahead, but a blank page in the visual editor

leaves me blank!

Thanks everyone for your input. It seems to be a bug in WordPress- the content in visual editor keeps appearing and disappearing, while the content in the text editor stays there. If I navigate from the page when I come back it appears- its quite contrary, because if I make any changes it keeps disappearing. Oh well, c'est la vie!

You don't have to type directly into the wordpress editor. You can open up a notepad document, word document or even write by hand and then type it in.

Sometimes I find it easier to write away from the computer than it is to write in front of the computer.

If you type it in Word then copy and paste it into notepad before you paste it into the Wordpress editor. Word tends to add a bunch of hidden formatting symbols to the text. By pasting it into notepad and then copying and pasting into the editor you will remove the hidden formatting Word includes.

It certainly CAN be a steep learning curve. I can recall, in the early 90s, attempting to program the parameters for Linux to utilize my laptop video card. Each time, I would start the GUI, the screen would turn different colors and start to smoke! It took me FOUR months, but I got it, and learned enough about Linux commands to help a whole lot of people thereafter. You'll find the help you need here, believe me! Be specific, be patient, and help will come. (And by the way, I agree. Wordpress is not very "intuitive" to me, either!

Don't feel lonely. WordPress frustrates me. But I have been working with it for a while now. Slowly, very slowly I am beginning to get the hang of it, I still have a ways to go. I am an old dog who is trying to learn new tricks. I might be slow, but I will persevere until I have mastered it. Hang in there and don't give up! You will win the battle. WordPress seems to be where everyone is heading. I prefer a drag and drop type of editor. There are some drag and drop plugins available for WordPress. I have downloaded one of the free ones and will be trying it out in the near future. Very best of luck to you!

I know when I first started using Wordpress a few months ago I had to keep going to youtube to search for how to do something. I would have never accomplished a website without it.

Hi,

Perhaps you could try this training to see if it helps with your current "depression" : https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/generating-ideas-for-articles-and-blogs-using-mindmapping

Perhaps a break would do. Overthinking might be the issue at hand? You'll find your footing again.
