Progress Update: 2 Months In

My progress so far

Following the certification course I have been able to get my website up and running, have added a few gadget reviews, and recently started posting up-to-date tech news to help keep my readers up-to-date with the latest news. With each post I make on my website I am learning something new and producing better content. I have learned to spend just as much time on the pictures as I do on the text making for great looking gadget reviews. I recently created my Google+ account and am in the process of using it to help me rank higher on Google. Although not part of the process yet I have also added ads into my posts and am learning to post updates to my Facebook page, Twitter account, and Instagram. I recently also started taking my knowledge of products and answering questions people have in forums then inserting my reviews or at least my website if I don't have a direct review. All this in 2 months

My niche

My niche is short and sweet gadget reviews for dads. My target audience is not just dads, even though it's in the website name, but anyone that wants to keep up with the latest technology without having to read through pages and pages of content to stay informed. I want to offer more than just product reviews since those can take time so I also included a news section where I write short mentions of latest tech news as well as any upcoming events.

Any successes (not just financial, but things you are proud of)

One of my latest reviews was for a product called the Utomic Edge phone protection system. They are essentially a set of corner bumpers you place on your phone instead of a full case. The company, Utomic, took notice and mentioned my review on your facebook page! They liked my instagram post of the review, and went on to send me a personal message to keep me up-to-date on the latest and greatest details! Although not explicitly mentioned, I believe this has the potential to grow into Utomic sending my products to review. This is one of the goals of a product reviewer; not having to purchase products to review and have companies provide them instead.

Plans and goals in the upcoming 3 months

My current goal is post daily on the latest tech news, post 1-2 new product reviews weekly, and at least 1 new event weekly. Because I have a very demanding life as a Program Manager, as a dad, a son, and trying to keep some personal time in there, keeping up with these goals have been tough but not impossible. I am still working on finding a happy medium while still keeping my sanity :)

I will focus my efforts on writing content that fits the max 100 QSR target and making sure I keep my current readers engaged and coming back as well as get new visitors.

I would like to say that I'd like to have at least one reader get to the point of using my affiliate links to purchase the products I am reviewing.

I also hope my new relationship with Utomic grows into something more permanent allowing me to review their future products without having to purchase them. I will also take my post for their product and any other actions I took to promote it as a basis for future reviews and see if I can get similar results.

Your plans and goals in the upcoming 6 months

In the next 6 months I hope to possibly have some consistent numbers for visitors and some consistency with visitors turning into buyers. I hope to have learned a lot more from WA about how to do this and show further financial success.
