Hi all,

Is there any disadvantage to presenting your site as an individual? By this I mean, for example, with a fictional web address:

johnschickenhouses.com

Hi, John!

Presenting your site as an individual is an advantage. As much as possible, you want to establish a trusting relationship with visitors to your website. This is easier to do if they see you as a real person.

If you are comfortable presenting yourself on your website, I recommend that you do.

You mentioned your concern that your domain name may be too specific. What is you domain name?

Gary

Hi Gary,

The domain name is quietdrummer.com

Initially the idea was to write about only quiet drum playing, electronic drums etc, but I'm worried about running out of ideas if the site gains any interest, as it's quite a narrow topic.

You actually told me something along these lines when I asked you a while ago Gary, that'll teach me for jumping the gun!

My idea is to steer the meaning of quietdrummer towards myself as an individual, 'just a quiet guy with a loud hobby' for example.

I'm comfortable with that because I'm pretty shy anyway, and it opens up the niche of drumming in general rather than the quiet playing thing.

Please let me know what you think!

Cheers
John

No problem with that. Many build personal branding as part of their business.

Thanks Stanley, good to know.

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to use a brand name which is well known in my niche to attract visitors?

The brand I have in mind is an online learning

You can write about popular brands, and you can review popular brands in your respective niche. that is certainly one way that you can attract traffic to your business. ;)

Thanks for your reply Kyle, I appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask you all regarding the niche I have chosen, if it is specific enough?

It is 'quiet drum practice' which will focus on products and

It sounds very specific! It shows me that you know the meaning of niche very well.

I saw many posts from new comers saying that they want to use their passions as their niches. You obviously know that niche is not something to further one's own passion but rather a special group of people that you want to serve and help.

What a brilliant idea. It sounds specific enough to me.
