Greetings Jim - I think the answer to your question lies in the answer to the question: "Who is your target audience?" Then you need to think about where you would find them? I think they are referring to friends outside WA. To do that, go to your article - upper right and click the Affiliate box. Up pops a link to the article that you can send to others or link to on your website. Those outside WA who click that link will come to WA and you get the credit. Great way to promote.
Hi - I presume you are talking about the comments which people leave on your posts. I don't wish to burst your bubble, but to be honest, I doubt very much that they will be sharing. It is simply something that a lot of people add to the comments which they leave on a post to make it look as though they are genuinely interested.
See the affiliate button on the top of the blog post. Click on that and you will see the link. Copy the link and share.

Hey Jim - I would say that it's about engagement. When you connect & send a message it goes to their profile. That's an encouragement for them to visit yours. There they get to see any posts you may have done recently and they get to see the link(s) to your website(s). Also, when you get to know folks there is engagement during Jay's Friday night webinar. You are attending that I hope!
I believe there are some $$ benefits to visiting other's websites (when asked to provided comments &/or feedback.)
