Hard to Focus

Hello, my friends!

The stroke I had is really a challenge to recover from, and do not wish it on anyone!

I really do not know what to blame it on but myself! For the past six years, I drove a truck across the United States and stayed gone from home 3 months at a time. During this time I did not do much exercise but did watch what I eat due to being a diabetic & having high blood pressure. Have a bad family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease that I inherited from family traits.

I am 5'7 and might weight stayed between 160 and 170 for my six years as a truck driver, my regular doctor was not concerned at all, and my A1C stayed around 6.2 with the highest being at 6.8 one time. The diabetes medication I took was Metformin, to keep from having to take high blood pressure medication all the time I did not consume salt at all. My pulse rate stays above 100, the only time it is below 100 is with antibiotics, which I do not understand. A few of you mentioned using probiotics before, and of course my visit Thursday, I forgot to ask my doctor about probiotics. Instead, the doctor put me on another antibiotic to try clear that stomach infection that is still keeping me from eating. My weight now is 146, lost 8 lbs in just 5 days, but yet doctor encourages walking every other day and just taking it easy at the same time and don't lose weight.

I went 2 days without walking, finally walked this morning again for 30 minutes. I taught the walk would open my mind and help me stay focused on tasks but not helping. Like writing this blog post, I know what would like to say but while typing wonder about other things.

So bare with me if you still reading.

The doctors are baffled as to what caused my stroke with multiple seizures. Instead of taking just a couple of pills once a day, now I take 6 in the morning with breakfast, 3 at lunch, and 22 at bedtime.

Wondering if Stress and change of life caused the stroke! As was in process of switching careers when it happened and was really stressed about finding a good home for my beloved furry Pit Bull as where we living couldn't have her. Afraid was not going to find a good loving home for my Evee, and that she would be used in dogfighting.

Another issue is the hot humid weather in South Georgia, I love the cooler weather and my husband does not so live where his family is from, which I do not.

Am trying not to think about negative things, and only focus on blogging but that is not working. I go from always working and staying busy, to being stuck in the house with hardly any activity outdoors at all. I love to fish, swim, bike, and do anything outdoors but I cannot be by myself. Me not being able to be myself and I cannot get the family to do anything with me outdoors is causing friction and tension in relationships. Most of my family likes to stay behind doors on computers or in front of the TV, but that has never been me. I get told to quit and go to the bedroom and lay in bed, that I am supposed to be recovering. Exercising and getting outdoors are part of recovering as well.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day, all I asked to do is to go fishing for a couple of hours in the morning before really gets too hot and humid outside. As I am hoping to be able to publish a new blog post on my website tomorrow!

I went from publishing 1 blog post a day to only maybe 1 a week now! This is disappointing as I cannot stay focused. Until my neurologist appointment on July 28th, I put together jigsaw puzzles to try to work on getting focused.

If you managed to read the entire blog, thank you! Any tips to help get my mind focused to write more, please suggest below! Thank you

Happy Mother's Day tomorrow to all the moms!

I know it's been awhile since you posted this discussion, but one thing you might try is meditation. I just draw a big dot on a 3x5 card and tape it to the wall. Then try to concentrate on the dot and when your mind wanders just bring it back to the dot. Doing this for a few minutes every day helps with concentration.

I am sorry to learn of your predicament. I am encouraged by your perseverance and refusal to give in to this sickness that is trying to rob you of your success story.
I pray that God will heal you from the crown of your head to the sole of your feet. Amen.

I'm so sorry you are going through all this, Jannette. That is just so much to be dealing with. You did a great job at this post, though!

Stress can do terrible things to the body and really frazzle the mind. I've always been a big proponent of regular exercise and meditation, as it can help tremendously with burning off what's stewing in the mind. If you can, getting some fresh air and gentle exercise could be beneficial for both your mind and body. I hope someone will take you fishing! Keep venting it out here if you need to...just get it out of your system one way or another.

Healing crystals can also be helpful...tourmaline for nerve regeneration and garnet or lapis lazuli for pain, blood pressure and brain function. Take care.

Feel better soon :-)
Susan

Jannette, well done on completing this post
This is also an awesome achievement
Can I make a suggestion?
Regarding your posts on your website

My suggestion is that you can talk about it via an audio recorder app on your phone and then transcribe it and put both the audio and text on your website.

That way you can hit your target posts weekly
What are your thoughts on this?

That would probably work, as while I do my morning walks always thinking about the beautiful scenery, I have seen traveling that will go well with my photos and travel blog.

Awesome
Glad you like it ;)

So sorry about the challenges, Jannette.
You are doing well writing one post a week despite all the challenges. I think you should maintain this till after your next appointment.
One of the ways to get over it is talking about it like you just did.
It helps reduce the tension.
I do hope you get someone to take you fishing.
Stay strong, and be happy.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you so much, it's just hard to be limited to having to stay home all the time. I have never been one to express my feelings about what bothers me and just keep it all in, not talk about it, and just put a smile on all the time no matter what.

You are very welcome.
I understand your feeling. Everything will be fine.
