Finding a profitable niche

One of the topics that I have seen being asked here lately is how to find a profitable niche so I decided to share one easy way. Amazon as we all know, is probably one of the top online retailer today. It is also probably one of the best resources to find a profitable niche. Here is an easy way to do this.

1. Log in to Amazon. Once you are on the site, You will notice the "all" tab located on the top left-hand corner of the page.

2. The next thing that you want to do is click on the "all" tab. Select a category or (niche), from the drop down that you have an interest for. In this example, I have selected "video games". Without entering anything in the search box, click on "search".

3. You are now taken to another another page. On the left-hand side of the page your will see sub-categories or (sub-niches). You are now narrowing the video game niche down. You will notice that each of these sub-niches have numbers by them indicating how many of the items have been sold.

4. If you want to further narrow this niche down, you simply have to go back to the top of the page. On the top bar, towards the right you will see the "best sellers" tab. Click on this and will see the best sellers in the video game category or (niche). You have now narrowed this niche down.

Hope this can be helpful for those still trying to find a niche.

I'm going to check this out. I've got a few niches, but I'd like to focus on the most profitable items within. This should work great. Thanks!

You are welcome Sondra.

Thanks for the great information Jerome, this is helpful for members who are still trying to find a niche :-)

Thanks Gaylene. This is what I'm hoping for. I replied to many comments on this subject so I thought I'd throw an idea out here.

Great Info, and thanks for sharing. But this doesn't apply to all products unfortunately, I mean the best seller part doesn't show to all products

Thanks for commenting. In this case there is not one the consider as their very best top seller. You would then back up to the sub-categories to find one that has a lot of sales or maybe even pick another niche.

Hi Jerome, thanks for sharing this excellent information. What's your take on software that helps us find 'trending' niches? Are they a sheer waste of money?

Gautam

Thanks a Gautam. I wouldn't say they were a waste of money. If one plans to have many websites I would say yes it would be worth the investment. Here is a couple of places that you can research some.

Thank you very much, Jerome. I will check the websites. They charge for the tools? I have come across too many at throwaway prices that I sometimes wonder one can have the stuff for free after applying a bit of common sense.

Great info and certainly a help for those who are struggling

Thanks Paul. This is what I am hoping for.
