Saturday Morning - A Magical Time In My Life Many Years Ago!
I don't know if any of you out there are familiar with the face in the cover image. Some may have never seen or heard of him. That's alright! I'm about to tell you a bit about him and how I relate to him.
First off, his name was Harry Chapin. He was an American singer/songwriter, storyteller, human rights and hunger activist. His most famous song was released in the early 1970's. "Taxi" at the time, was one of the longest songs in length at the time, along with the Beatles, "Hey Jude" and Rod Stewards' "Maggie May".
Maybe the reason for not knowing of Harry Chapin, was that he died at the age of 38 in July 1981. He was killed in a car crash on the Long Island Expressway on the way to a concert.
He was a true New Yorker and, since I grew up in a town as close as you can get to being in
New York but not actually living there, all the local radio stations played his music. I was thirteen when I first heard "Taxi" play on the radio and I was hooked. I even attended several of his concerts in the local area before his death.I would listen to his songs and stories over and over again and from there, my passion ignited. I wanted to tell stories within my poems, just like Harry did with his songs.
And so, It began!
When I think of Saturday morning's, I think of this song comes to mind, and brings back a flood of memories of when I first began writing.

That's a beautiful song Barbara, thanks for the link! I've never heard of Harry Chapin before. I'm just listening to Taxi, found it on YouTube as well.
Shame he died so young, such a talented musician.

Harry Chapin. Wow, there's a blast from the past. I used to enjoy his music back in the day. I followed your link and am listening now as I write this. It's interesting to hear what lit the spark in a person's passion. My spark, back in the long ago in some dark dank alley in my mind, was depression. I needed to express myself. What a ride it's been since then.

Nice one Barbara. I love his song also. The one I played and listened is the W.O.L.D. I am a music lover. Dancing is one also of my things.
Most of the old song always my rock. Neil Diamond, Beatles, Neil Young,John Denver, Air Supply, Most of the Country music, Abba and I love also latino music. Although I am not fluent in Spanish.
Sometimes, while I listening to the music I try to count how many instruments the singer/ the band played. I have had one song of Neil young that I counting the bit of the instruments. So, funny to say but that who I am. I can feel the music messages deeply. What can you say about the "Hard of Gold" :
Cheers,
Nila
