Awareness Is Key To Prevention!

Today is a new day!
Hot 🔥 and humid here at the Jersey Shore and at almost noon, the sun doesn't seem to be making an appearance today. Maybe later, but doubtful.
Some really bad thunderstorms ? came through yesterday during the early hours of the evening and we may be in for more today...who knows.
I didn't get much sleep last night, due to pain from my Mohs surgery yesterday, so I'm taking a lazy day today to recoup and recharge.

This isn't Wealthy Affiliate related, however, WA is a learning platform and today I want to share a little lesson with all of you about skin cancer and some things my doctor told me yesterday, while he was stitching me up.
I like to ask him questions so I have a better understanding of why I continue to have skin cancer occurrences, even though I try my best to protect myself from the SUN.
Do you know why I highlighted the word sun, above?
Here's why!
Contrary to what most people believe, the sun and UV rays, aren't the only causes of skin cancer.
I mentioned briefly in my post yesterday that being predisposed has a lot to do with it as well.
Did you know that you can be genetically predisposed? Yes, it can be handed down.
But genetic predisposition isn't the only culprit. Here are just a few of the things the doctor mentioned to me yesterday that you may or may not be aware of.
- Exposure to any kind of radiation. Even radon gas that may be present in your home.
- Chemotherapy
- A weekend immune system
And guess what? Along with being genetically predisposed, I have all 3 of these factors.
Ironically, I have little to no sun damage, yet since the early 2000s, I have had approximately 40 skin cancer surgeries...maybe more. I lost count.
Why am I telling you all this?
No, not to get your sympathy, but to enlighten you about some real reasons people get or have skin cancer.
Have you ever wondered why some people can worship the sun and others can't, well now you know it's not just because of the UVA/UVB rays.
So, please be aware of these factors and do your research on skin cancer because I'm sure there are other factors that I haven't mentioned.
Awareness is key to prevention!

Good to hear from you today.
After my blog yesterday I wanted to stress the point about awareness and being completely informed. I thought it was important for folks to know that you just don't get skin cancer from sitting in the sun.
Some folks think that just because they use sunscreen they are protected. Not the case.
