Hello all my Wealthy Affiliate friends out there! Hope you are enjoying this day. The weekend is nearly here and I don't know about you, but after the week I have had, I plan to enjoy some much-needed relaxation.

I just spent the last few hours catching up on responding to WA emails. Why was I am catching up? Good question!

Most of you are aware that I have been absent from the platform for a few days to tend to family business with my two sister's.

Together, the three of us had the arduous task of clearing everything from my mother's house as she is now living with my one sister due to her declining mental state. She has moderate to severe dementia, as most of you are aware.

Stage One - Decision Making and Planning

Packing up her things entailed going through everything in her house, deciding who wanted what, what can get thrown away and what could get donated. It also entailed a planning phase of how we were going to proceed.

Stage Two - Emptying

Then the emptying part began. We needed to empty all the kitchen cabinets, china cabinet, pantry closets, linen closets, coat closets, dresser draws and clothes closets.

Stage Three - Packing

After a brief break for something to eat, the packing stage began. We bagged and boxed every item my Mom had in her house. Furniture was dismantled so it could be sold or given away. Not a stitch of anything was left unpacked or unbagged after we all left the house late Tuesday evening.

I left with a huge headache from the noise and all the confusion, a backache from all the bending, lifting and carrying items from one room to another. I later experienced a sick stomach from eating too much during our short break.

More work ensued on Wednesday afternoon, when my one sister and I returned to the house to organize all the items that were to be hauled away by a clean out service. Several more hours were spent on organizing and culminated when the clean out service came to give us an estimate on what it would cost to haul everything away.

Stage Four - Haul Away Part 1

The haul away process began around 10 am this morning, so I need to be back at my Mom's house to give access to my the house to the haul away company.

Part 1 of the process took around four hours. Fortunately, I did not have to partake in any of the labor for this part. The service actually loaded for haul away all the items that were bagged or boxed.

Stage Four - Haul Away Part 2

The haul away service will return tomorrow for the final items, such as the beds and other large furniture items that we were unable to sell or give away.

Once again, I am happy that I am not required to partake in any of the manual labor for Part 2 of the haul away. My mission tomorrow is to let the service company back into the house to finish the clean out, then turning off the air conditioning, all the lights and locking up the premises. By 10:30 am tomorrow, it should all be said and done.

Return to Wealthy Affiliate

This afternoon, I returned to performing Wealthy Affiliate tasks, such as this blog and answering WA emails I had received since my departure from the platform on Tuesday. I am also planning to review and update some posts in my websites, maybe do some theme customizations, and continue with my lessons in Bootcamp training.

Welcome back, Barbara!
I, too, have been absent with little time to write, I gave up trying.
This blog reminds me, ...all I need is to find a wee bit of time and take steps daily to get back into action!
Thank you for sharing this, and i hope to be more present in the coming days.
Thank you, Barbara!
Best!
Barb

Welcome back

Sounds like a months worth of work piled into a few days. I'm glad that your haul away service did all of the heavy lifting. Saves you physically. Friends of our just moved out of state and their service was terrible. They had to not only pack, but load the truck! Turns out they didn't read the fine print, but still . . . .

Glad you're back Barbara

The haul away service did save us from getting rid of the heavier furniture that was left. We did have to organize everything in boxes and bags. The backbreaking part was going through everything like cabinets, closets, draws, etc. and emptying stuff into the bag and boxes.

I'm glad that's over with!
Barbara

Amen

Yes, double amen!

Barbara what a few days you had, I am shocked you're still not exhausted. Glad to hear you had the help of two other energetic sisters, at least I hope they were energetic LOL. I know already who ate most of the food, what was on your mind cleaning out the refrigerator ha ha.

Joe

No, actually the refrigerator was already cleaned out. I actually had a sandwich on a roll, but it was loaded with meat. It was very filling. I think I got sick from all the stress and the headache.

We all were very energetic because we didn't want the project to linger on any longer than it had to.

And yes, I am still pretty much exhausted.

Barbara

Wow, a new adventure for your whole family it seems. I hope your recovery goes well and glad to have you back. Dementia is a terrible thing. My dad had it for the last 6-8 weeks of his life but one takeaway I can keep was the night I took home on a rocket ship to the moon. He was almost childlike with wonder and held attention and asked me for so much detail. It was a great memory, enjoy the time you have left.

Thank you very much!
I appreciate your comments on the subject.
