Gravatar provides the image for your comment. The email needs to be the same as you use for your site login or the image won't appear and will give you the problems that it sounds like you are having.
You can add additional emails with the same or different images if you choose (inside Gravatar).
Ahhh I didn't realize that is what we had to do, I didn't really understand it all but now it makes sense... Thank you!
