You can turn it off, just like how you turned it on
As there are increasing ways of sending information around the world we the audience are getting sucked in at alarming rates. We wonder why we get symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, and all the stress related illnesses possible.
Years ago we started to be bombarded with radio, then television. Then came the desktop computer followed by all the mobiles, including the phones. So we have taken up new habits.
These gadgets bring the world and its troubles into our living rooms and because they are always on, our families are constantly bombarded with themes from movies, ads and the news. The flow is never going to end because people are making money from the attention of the audience that is us.
We are even bombarded by sound at all times : from the radio in the car, the phones stuck in our ears, elevator music, background music in restaurants. Some of it is beautiful, but is it a good thing to be so engage at all times?
I am aware of all this and I am taking steps to unplug at specified times. Just as how I turn on that switch, I can choose to turn it off. Yes , I am the boss.
When was the last time you witnessed the sound of silence ?

I have a simple phone, just to speak briefly when I need to; on my computer I'm just checking my emails, paying my bills and working on WA. I rarely watch TV. Thus my life has improved. I prefer face-to-face communication.

Hello!
It is true what you say! With the injection of smartphones into our lives, we are constantly connected. Gone are the days of having to actually for out and seek information. We now have it at our fingertips and with that comes the addiction to our smartphones. I have 2 phones myself, but I am not glued to them at all. I know when to put them down and when to use them.
My mom is so glued to Facebook that when I try to have a conversation with her or when my kids are talking to her, it is like she is completely.ignoring anything around her. She needs to learn to how to turn it off.
Nice read!
I actually got rid of my iPhone a couple months back, now have a flip phone. What a difference. It’s crazy to watch how many people are soooo addicted to their phones. It’s sad to think how the phone has become so much more important then the person right in front of you.
I agree with your comments totally
We watch couples when we are out Not talking but glued to their phones
Sad
I had wondered what my relationship would of been like had I not made the plunge to rid the addiction. It's something so many people understand is a problem, it's just something seems normal enough to keep doing. I was just listening on the radio today, that even 2/3rds of teen know that screen dependence is a problem. The problem with addiction though, is it can be difficult to over come: Especially if you haven't admitted you have a problem.
I admitted I had a problem, and I'm working on fixing it.
