What, exactly, is prosperity ?

Prosperity means so many different things to different people. While one man might strive to own his private jet, another may want a happy family.

It is most important that we define what is prosperity on our terms, or else we will find ourselves chasing what others are chasing and still feeling unfulfilled and unhappy. In general, people tend to think of prosperity as having a whole lot of money. There are many stories of people who have millions and are still not happy.

A friend of mine who is the manager of a large insurance firm could not understand my perspective when I was not excited that he had purchased the latest Porsche. I told him the car looked really great, but I would have preferred to use the money to buy my dream piano keyboard with all the fancy buttons and to redesign my studio.

Joining WA is an opportunity, not only to earn an income, but also to work on a niche that we are interested in, and one that we love so much that long hours working on it will seem like play. For us, it has meaning.

Isn't it a good time to ask "What is prosperity?"

I'm not a fan of Porsches either lol

Yes, Joy3 you're right, success!!!

We all have different definitions of happiness but large amounts money isn't the answer. That said if we don't have enough to get by life is a struggle. Health, faith and family are what's most important to me, not necessarily in that order.

Food for thought...! I wouldn't get excited about the newest Porsche either. A fancy keyboard definitely sounds more interesting but... and this has got me thinking... Wondering what I really really would like made me realize that I am actually content with what I have.

What makes me happiest is when I can feel the love and trust of my grandchildren, like when my grandson or my granddaughter send me a Whatsapp message asking me a question about their homework or asking me if a solution to a maths problem is correct, or asking me if I can come to a performance at their school... This is the sort of thing that no amount of money can buy, but it is the reason I am earning extra money. It helps me not to have to worry about every penny when I buy them a birthday present or want to take them out for a meal or help pay for them to go on a school trip...

I love this. Such value in relationships. Glad for the money so as not to struggle

Interesting question Joy. I always go by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. If I can develop the first three stages then I am in my view prosperous. The other two stages however are what people strive towards to be prosperous. My Dad always said if you have love and a family that loves you then you are a rich person.

Hi Harvey. I agree with you and your Dad 100%. A loving family is wealth

Your Dad was a wise man.
