Put away the phone

No wonder everyone is so stressed. You are going about your daily routine and every now and then you are interrupted. You take the phone in the car, to the dinner table, by your side when watching television, and when you are supposed to be in bed, there it is close by.

Believe me I am glad for the facility, but there has to be a limit. It steals your peace, it intercepts family time, it cause you to change what you are doing, and it is forever a distraction, and wait, when you are not using it, you are listening out for it.

There are times in my day when I just put away the phone. It is just one of the modern ways of keeping anxiety at its lowest. Go on. Put away the phone for a few hours in the day. Keep your sanity. We used to live without it. Let's do it !!!

Agree. I took a day off today. Ask a cup of Mocha with peppermint and sat down in the Caribou, ready for a relaxed morning without work. No, what happens? Where is my ringing pal who with me everywhere? There is no cell phone in my hand, of course I started to search it all over my pockets and handbag, then realized that I forgot to take it and left it on my bed. Now everyone used to lower head for looking and reading a phone everywhere instead of ...... is it really play an important role? I don't want to lose my this peace beautiful morning for driving back to get a phone, though it has been with me everywhere. Why not put away a phone for a few hours, enjoy a fresh morning without lower your head for a cell phone

Love it

Chare my phone every night,, used to be on the night table .
Now in the living room. It is a start.
Thank you

It is

Hi Joy, I agree!

When I'm out and I come back home, my cell phone stays in my purse. That can be for 2-3 days! yes.

When I take it out to charge it I get messages from my 86 year old Mom asking me if I'm still alive. She is so funny.

I tell people that I'm not like everyone else glued to it, I can do without :)

Having iy by your side creates the impression that we are on call for the next crisis that requires our "professional" knowledge.
It also shunts the current concentration to the back of the line instead of waiting its turn.
Commitment should actually be more important

It can be a great interruption as well!

Like all convenient things it becomes a crutch and an excuse. Before the mobile phone we still listened out for the wall or table phone. The difference now is that we can trave with it. I think you have a great practice, put it down, shut it off. If the call or text is important they will leave a message that you can respond at a later time.

Taking control

Hi,
This is one of my pet peeves, a C-Phone protruding out of nearly everyone's' hand these days interrupting family conservation and distracting all of us.

Can the modern generation image what it was like not to have C-Phone , all you head was the home telephone?

Like you said it is a wonderful device, especially for emergencies

But there is peace with it turned off.

Great article.

Bill

Thanks my friends. Keeping my family, and my sanity, is a priority for me.
